Frazee girls golf preview
With a full slate returning for the 2013 season, the Frazee girls’ golf team is ready to make a good run through their schedule.
The Lady Hornets have all seven of their golfers returning, with two of them coming off qualifying for the Section 8-1A meet last year.
Sophomore Alexis Parsons and junior Becky Kaarsch each are building off their section-qualifying season and each look improved, said Frazee head coach Dave Conzemius.
“They are a year older, more mature and stronger,” Conzemius said. “Each dropped 10 strokes per nine holes last year and I see even more this season.”
Junior Cara Roers and Mary Tychsen also return, as does freshman Sydney Dahlgren and eighth graders Brittany Lormis and Maddisan Parsons.
“Kara Roers is a first-year golfer and Sydney Dahlgren is in her second year, and I’ve seen significant improvement from her,” Conzemius said.
“Mary Tychsen also dropped 10 strokes per nine holes last year.”
Maddisan Parsons shot in the 40’s after nine holes for the first time last season, while Brittney Lormis is out for her second year and is working hard at lowering her score.
The team overall shaved off 44 strokes per nine holes in 2012 and Conzemius is looking for more in 2013.
“We broke 200 for the first time last year and took sixth in the HOL Conference meet,” the Frazee coach said. “I’d like for us to break into the top four. We also have a legitimate chance of getting out of the sub-section and make a run for state.
“But my number one goal for the girls is to improve and have fun doing it.”
The season opener may happen April 16, at West Central, while the Hornets are also scheduled to play April 18, at Perham.
