Frazee holds on for Homecoming win versus Lake of the Woods
Lake of the Woods tried to spoil Frazee's Homecoming game with some razzle dazzle.
But a second-half explosion from the Bears fell short as the Hornets regained their composure in a 41-24 win Friday.
Frazee moved to 3-2 on the season with the win.
After holding a 26-6 lead at the half, Lake of Wood wide receiver Shae Pepara showed his speed as he was utilized in end-arounds to sweep past the line. He scored twice for the Bears in the second half. Ryan Gustafson also added a touchdown for Lake of the Woods.
Lake of the Woods shunned conventional tactics as it went for an onside kick early in the game, went for first downs in what were usually punting situations and kept Frazee's defense guessing throughout a play as to whom the ball carrier was.
Frazee senior running back Matt Viste piled up rushing yards, helped by a 63-yard TD run. He added a 30-yard scoring run late in the fourth that put the game out of reach.
The Hornets travel to Walker-Hacksensack-Akeley next Friday.
