Frazee man gets prison for threat with knife
A Frazee man was convicted and sentenced to prison Wednesday in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of second-degree assault-dangerous weapon.
Kierre Dairous Lias, 22, whose address is listed as P.O. Box 54, Frazee, was ordered to serve 21 months in prison at the St. Cloud correctional facility, and to pay $135 in court fines and fees from his prison earnings.
A second misdemeanor count of domestic assault that was filed in relation to the incident was dismissed at sentencing.
Lias was accused of threatening his female companion with a knife on April 14, just one day after they had moved into a new home in Frazee. According to the complaint, the woman had gone to visit some friends and tell them about their new address. When she came back, Lias allegedly became angry that she had taken too long, and they started arguing.
The woman told law enforcement officials that Lias had thrown things at her, hit her in the back of the head, pushed her face, attempted to grab her throat and choke her, and finally went into the bedroom, pulled a knife out of a dresser drawer.
Lias then allegedly came back into the room where they were arguing, pushed her up against a wall and held the knife to her throat, threatening to kill her.
According to the complaint, he threatened the woman twice with the knife before the argument ended.
