The heat emanating off the Frazee baseball bats would have been a good way to warm up during Thursday's gusty, cold day.

The Hornets were two-out warriors after scoring a combined nine runs in two innings where they started off with a pair of outs.

That resulted in a 15-1 win for Frazee over the home team, the Lake Park-Audubon Raiders.

Trevor Tappe also pitched a three-hitter to stifle the Raiders, which was pretty impressive under the curtains of a strong cold wind and rain.

"Tappe is a strong pitcher and he threw well against us," LP-A head coach Darrin Myhre said. "He is one of the better pitchers we've seen this season."

The Raiders did a suitable job of registering the first two outs of the inning in each of Frazee's big first and fifth frames, but they couldn't muster the third one until the damage was done.

LP-A starting pitcher Jake Lunde started the game off well, recording two consecutive strikeouts, but two straight walks followed to start the ball rolling for Frazee.

Cody Overland -- who went 3-4 in the game -- loaded the bases, which was followed by the third walk to Brandon VanWatermulen to score Nick Brower.

Sam Oelfke bled an infield single deep in the shortstop hole to score Matt Brower, while an error by the LP-A defense led to three runs rounding the bases to notch a 5-0 advantage.

"That's been our problem this season, we've struggled starting out our games," Myhre said. "It also was tough in the cold weather to get on the ball (defensively)."

While Tappe mowed through the Raider batters, Frazee continued to rack up runs, including two in the second on RBIs by Nick and Matt Brower.

Two errors by LP-A in the fourth led to four more runs, with RBIs being credited to Dylan Stender and Nick Brower.

Again in the fifth, reliever Daniel Binde gained the first two outs, but Frazee put together two consecutive singles and a hit batsmen loaded the bases for a three-RBI triple by Tappe to end the scoring barrage.

"One thing our guys have done if they get down earlier, is they keep on playing no matter what," Myhre said. "They keep fighting to the end."

LP-A (2-3) broke their goose egg on an RBI single by Kenyon O'Brien in the fifth inning.

Frazee (3-3) finished with 12 hits, while Lunde took the loss by allowing five walks, five hits and four earned runs.

Myhre is looking for an earlier spark by his team as they head into their latter stage of their schedule.

"We are three deep in pitching, with Tyler Mickelson (last outing he had 14 strikeouts) being our ace and Caleb and Jake Lunde filling in behind him," Myhre added. "I just hope we can start having stronger starts and avoid those leadoff walks."
