Frazee school narrows superintendent list
Frazee-Vergas School District has narrowed the list of superintendent applicants to six.
After receiving 21 applications for the full-time superintendent position, the board met Wednesday in a special meeting to narrow the pool to the top applicants.
Those taking part in interviews on Feb. 20 and 21 will be Jennifer Backer, superintendent of Cromwell-Wright Schools; Brian Clarke, superintendent of Fertile-Beltrami Schools; Kyle Edgerton, superintendent of Grant County Schools, N.D.; Terry Karger, high school principal at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Schools; Rob Nudell, principal of Frazee-Vergas Schools; and Scott Vedbraaten, superintendent of Marshall County Central.
Each school board member had previously rated their top picks, and then Wednesday they tallied those picks, deciding which candidates would go through the interview process.
"I think we got a great applicant pool," Chairman Matt Bauer said.
When tallying their votes -- which was done using just a letter to identify the candidate in order to keep their application confidential at that point -- there were a couple candidates that the entire board had chosen as a top pick. There were also a couple that a majority of the board chose, and a few more that either got one vote or none.
The board scheduled the interviews for next week to keep the process moving along.
"We gotta get moving on this obviously," Bauer said.
Interviews will be Feb. 20 and 21, beginning at 5 p.m. Interviews are open to the public.
