Frazee 34  Fosston 15

Frazee kept things simple with its offense Thursday.

The Hornets handed the ball off to junior running back Hesston Bachmann 27 times in a 34-15 Minnesota high school football victory over Fosston at the Fargodome.

Bachmann gained 160 yards and scored two touchdowns.

“Fosston has a stingy defense and we really thought we had to score some points early in order to win this game,” Frazee head coach Jim Rader said. “Our kids executed.

“We didn’t really do anything fancy on offense, but that is the approach you have to take sometimes.”

Frazee (6-2) led 26-0 at halftime and outgained the Greyhounds 239-35 in total offense during the first half.

Jesse Trusty scored the Hornets first touchdown on a one-yard run 5 minutes into the game.

Later in the first quarter, Trusty fumbled giving Fosston the ball on its 34-yard line, but the Greyhounds’ possession lasted one play after Ari Borud was intercepted by Bachmann.

Bachmann returned the interception 45 yards for a touchdown.

It was the only pass Fosston attempted the entire game.

“We didn’t play with a lot of effort,” Fosston head coach Les Viken said.

“You can’t afford to come out slow against a team like Frazee.”

Fosston struck first in the second half getting a 52-yard touchdown from senior running back Jon Olson on its opening drive.

Junior backup quarterback Aaron Arneson ended up leading the Greyhounds (2-6) in rushing with 57 yards and touchdown on six carries despite only playing one series in the fourth quarter.

Frazee’s next game will be in the opening round of the Minnesota Class 2A, Section 8 playoffs on Tuesday.

“Any win at the Fargodome is huge and I think this will give us momentum heading into next week,” Bachmann said.

Frazee senior quarterback Cory Wokasch was 5 of 6 passing for 70 yards and one interception.
