Frazee-Vergas community ed plans full slate of summer trips, activities
Registrations for many activities including an Itasca State Park family bus trip and pontoon rides during Frazee Turkey Days are being accepted through Frazee-Vergas Community Education.
The family bus trip, courtesy of Anderson Bus and Coach and Tim and Jeanine Teiken, will be on Friday, July 20, with departure from the Frazee High School rear parking lot at 7:30 a.m., and from Wolf Lake at 8 a.m. Cost is $3 per person, with pre-registration needed. Families should plan on bringing a picnic lunch, snacks and cameras. The bus will leave Itasca at 4 p.m.
Community Education will also be partnering with volunteers from the "Let's Go Fishing!" organization and Neighbor to Neighbor to offer pontoon rides for senior citizens during Frazee Turkey Days. The rides will be held Friday, July 27, with departures from Town Lake Beach at 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. Rides are free of charge, but pre-registration is encouraged.
Open elementary library continues on Wed-nesdays through Aug. 15, with Storytime beginning at 11 a.m. Following each Storytime, Linda Kelly will be available until 1 p.m. to help browsers locate and check out books.
Stand-Up Paddle Board classes with instructor Jessica Stuewe are held at Town Lake Beach in Frazee (Water Walking on Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m.), Long Lake Beach in Vergas (Board Boot Camp from 8-9 a.m. on Thursdays), and Eagle Lake Beach (Yoga on the Water, 8-9 a.m. on Fridays). Cost is $50 for one three-class session and includes board and life jacket rental.
Music instructor Brittany Forness will be offering a Musical Theater Camp July 23-26, from 9 a.m.-noon for students who've completed grades 4-8. Cost is $20 per student.
