Frazee VFW to host Flag Day celebration
The time is just about here to honor the veterans of Frazee by helping save their VFW — and having some fun in the meantime.
To help cover the upcoming balloon payment of $14,000, members of the community are stepping up to make the event a big one.
Jerry Buhr said that when he saw that the Frazee VFW was in trouble, he wanted to help. Owner of JB’s Double Barrel Hog Roasting, he offered his cooking services that evening.
He asked his friend, Jimmie Anderson, to come DJ the event, which he agreed to do.
Other Frazee businesses have pitched in to donate items for the event, including Daggett’s to provide a flatbed for the stage and Anderson Bus to provide a four-hour rental of a limo bus as part of the raffle.
The events go from noon to midnight that day, beginning with the silent auction opening at noon. The parade begins at 2 p.m., followed by a kids CUP-cake walk, the hog roast and dinner, a drawing contest for kids, raffle, street dance and beer garden.
