Free, big-screen showing of "Wizard of Oz" hosted by ACS March 30
Arvig Communication Systems (ACS), Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and the Historic Holmes Theatre are sponsoring a free big-screen movie showing of the 1939 classic "The Wizard of Oz," on Sunday, March 30 at the Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes beginning at 2 p.m.
"The Wizard of Oz" is the story of little Dorothy Gale of Kansas, who like so many girls her age, dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her away to another world, where she meets many unique characters and travels in the Land of Oz.
Characters from the movie, including Dorothy, the Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tinman will be on hand to meet and pose for photos with fans. In addition, those in attendance can register to win a Sony Handycam digital camcorder, an Apple iPod and other great prizes to be given away after the movie. Registrants must be present to win prizes.
A limited number of tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Interested parties can get tickets at the Detroit Lakes ACS Retail Center or by calling 218-346-8813 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Doors open at 1 p.m., and concessions will be sold at the event.
