Friends of History Museum get state grant
The Minnesota Historical Society has awarded a Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grant in the amount of $6,831 to the Friends of the History Museum of East Otter Tail County to help support the recording of oral histories from the Cold War era.
Oral histories are the basis for the exhibits of the ITOW (In Their Own Words) Veterans Museum, which opened in 2006.
Lina Belar, Executive Director and project manager for the ITOW Veterans Museum, says this grant will help the Museum continue to fulfill its mission of preserving the stories of area veterans.
Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants, popularly referred to as Legacy grants, are made possible by the Minnesota Legislature from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund created with passage of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment to the Minnesota Constitution in November 2008.
