Former Newport, Ore., resident Gale (Tim) Tim-merman, 79, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at his daughter's home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Gale, the son of Marion and Grace (Saunders) Timmerman, was born on October 5, 1933 in Samuels, Idaho. He grew up in Newport, Ore., where he received his education. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Gale was united in marriage to Judy Wade on October 23, 1953 in Newport. Gale and Judy have lived in numerous places throughout the world, during Gale's career in commercial property management. During their retirement years they lived in Tucson, Ariz., and enjoyed life together.

Gale was an artist, specializing in paintings and sculptures. He loved to entertain his friends and family. Gale was known for his sense of humor and always had a new joke to tell. He lived his life to the fullest and will be missed by many.

Surviving Gale are his wife, Judy Timmerman of Detroit Lakes; two sons, Andrew Timmerman of Medford, Ore., and Michael (Vicki) Timmerman of Hubert, N.C.; one daughter, Krista (Douglas) Timmerman-Johnson of Detroit Lakes; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Middy (John) Hurliman of Cloverdale, Ore., and Dixie Padello of Las Vegas, Nev.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Gale in death were his parents; one brother, Jack; and four sisters, Betty, Faye, Norma and Jo.
