Garden tea, Labyrinth: Lakes homes event helps therapy programs
Take a break from a busy summer to sip on some tea and nibble on some tasty snacks as you enjoy a stroll through the beautiful Labyrinth gardens.
The event is a complete sensory experience with the visual beauty and aroma of the flowers, and the pleasant sounds of wind chimes and birdsong.
Lakes Homes is hosting the event on Sunday, June 30. Two tea times are offered; from 1:30 to 3 p.m and 3:30-5 p.m. Admission is a $25 tax-deductible donation for each attendee. All proceeds from the event benefit the Lakes Homes Music Therapy and Horticultural Therapy programs.
The gardens are planted and cared for by the residents of Lakes Homes, and will feature a variety of fountains and benches among the labyrinth of flowers, vegetables, and herbs. The paths of the Labyrinth are wide enough for access with walkers and wheelchairs.
In addition to the gorgeous scenery, the Dan Thornby Band will provide musical entertainment from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Also featured will be a garden craft market with items available for purchase.
This is the fourth year Lakes Homes has hosted the tea party and invited the community to tour the gardens.
Tables are set for groups of four, but larger groups can be accommodated.
Lakes Homes is located at 914 Lake Forest Circle, just off of South Shore Drive.
Reservations are needed for the event, and can be made by calling 847-5642.
