Gardening workshop set for May 2
Presenters Melinda Myers and Ken Beattie are scheduled for a "Real Gardens for Real People" gardening workshop to be held on Saturday, May 2 in Detroit lakes.
The Becker County Master Gardeners, Lake Region Garden Club and Lakes Homes and Program Development, Inc. are sponsoring this gardening event at the Minnesota State and Technical College of Detroit Lakes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration cost is $40 refreshments and lunch included.

Melinda Myers is best known for her gardener friendly and practical approach to gardening, has 25 years of horticulture experience, in both hands-on and instructional settings. She has a Master's degree in horticulture, is a Certified Arborist and an instructor with tenure.
Melinda has written 20 books, and hosts "Great Lakes Gardeners" on PBS stations throughout the United States, and "Melinda's Garden Moments," which air on network television stations.
Ken Beattie has been a professional horticulturist for the past 34 years, graduating from the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture in 1975. He is the horticulturist for Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, one of North America's largest urban park.
Thrust on to the Canadian television scene in 1985, Beattie spent the past 16 years celebrating those things in life we sometimes take for granted. His career path has taken him to the four corners of the earth, fueling his passion for all things green and growing. As well as developing award-winning programs specific to the changing needs of Canadians, Beattie had reached out to the world's communities becoming involved in many groundbreaking initiative.
