Gay marriage licenses not yet available in Becker Co.
Gay couples in Becker County will have to hold off on applying for marriage licenses within the county, at least for a while.
According to Becker County Chief Deputy Recorder Kathy Ohman, the program used in applying for marriage licenses is currently being re-vamped within the computer system to use “applicant’s name” instead of “bride” and “groom.”
That technical change is being worked on through a company in Montana that is revising and updating a number of other minor changes in various programs and forms.
“We don’t know when that will be completed, but it will be for sure by July 31 because we have to begin selling those licenses by Aug. 1,” said Ohman.
