Former Detroit Lakes resident Gayle Ann (Degner) Tschida, 76, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, in Sierra Vista, Calif., due to a short but swift battle against can-cer.
She joined her daughter-in-law Jennifer Tschida and her grandsons Joseph and Craig Tschida in heaven, becoming our very special angel.
Gayle caught the eye of Gerald (Jerry) Tschida, her soulmate, as she waitressed and he played bass in a swing band in Detroit Lakes.
On March 7, 1957, they joined in marriage, where their love took them around the world following Jerry's Army career, with Gayle as the perfect, supportive Army wife.
Their love created seven children, Debbie (Ian Simpson), Kevin Tschida, Keith (Melissa) Tschida, Christa Niffen, Renada Perea, Korrina, Kirk (Ingrid) Tschida.
Gayle is also survived by a brother, James Dorrance of Detroit Lakes; two sisters, Jeanne Lotvola of Ogema and Dorothy Davis-Buck of Detroit Lakes; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Besides her daughter-in-law and grandsons, Gayle was also preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude Degner, and stepfather, Reginald Degner.
