Geline T. Kratzke, 88, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Geline Therese Kratzke was born to Ole and Therese (Godger) Eckre on March 30, 1925 in Abercrombie, N.D. The family moved to rural Vergas when Geline was 14 years old. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1943.
On July 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to Rudolph E. Kratzke. They lived and raised their family on a farm in rural Vergas. Geline helped out on the farm as well as working as a cook at Perry's Place, the Pelican Rapids Bowling Alley, and Fair Hills Resort.
Geline was a member of the United Methodist Church in Vergas. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and gardening.
Surviving her are five daughters, Katherine Pfeiffer of Harlingen, Texas, Carol Kratzke of Vergas, Corinne (Greg) Mueller of Detroit Lakes, Connie (Peter) Lindberg of Perham and Jeanette (Richard) Hodges of Brownwood, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Delores Eckre; and one brother-in-law, Fred Kratzke.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Rudolph "Butch" (1986); three sisters, Tena Kratzke, Elsie Kratzke and Olga Johnson; one brother, Gordon Eckre; and her parents.
Memorial services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with visitation for one hour prior to services.
