Geraldine "Geri" D. Herkenratt, 90, of Moorhead, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo.
Memorial services for Geri will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6 in David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, with Reverend Wade Dutton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be made at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Geri was born to Wesley F. and Laura (Scherer) Baddgor on August 13, 1922 in Rochester, Minn. After high school, Geri began nurse's training and worked at Central Hospital in Minneapolis for several years. She met and married Archie Kendrick in 1948. They had a daughter, Carol.
Archie passed away in 1954. Geri and her daughter moved to Northfield to reside with her mother. There she met Harry S. Herkenratt and married him in 1959, in St. Paul. They had two children, Debra and Robert. They resided in Moorhead for several years before moving to Lake Eunice, where they lived for 30 years.
Geri worked as a caterer and cook at several lakeside establishments until her retirement. In 2000 she and Harry moved to Glyndon, where she resided until she moved to the Golden Living Center in Moorhead. Harry died in 2002.
Surviving Geri are her children, Carol Anne Nilles of Casselton, N.D., Debbie Jeanne (Everett) Ballard of Pelican Rapids and Robert Richard Herkenratt of Detroit Lakes; stepchildren, Paul Herkenratt of Cocoa, Fla., and Valerie Haber of Lee's Summit, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Preceding Geri in death were her parents; first husband, Archie Kendrick; second husband, Harry S. Herkenratt; and brother, Wesley Baddgor.
