Geraldine Pearson

Former Detroit Lakes resident Geraldine "Gerry" Edwards Pearson, 95, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

Gerry was born to Ella Mae Reeves Edwards and Clarence Vincent Edwards on February 4, 1917, in Groton, S.D. In 1934, she graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. On February 12, 1938, Gerry married John Olaf Pearson of Detroit Lakes.

Preceding Gerry in death were her parents, Mae and Clarence Edwards; husband, John Pearson; brother, Keith Clarence Edwards; and granddaughter, Sally Jean Watson.

Surviving Gerry are her son, Jack (Kathy) Pearson of Detroit Lakes and Daphne, Ala.; her daughter, Mary Kay Watson (Debbie Wygal) of St. Paul; grandchildren. Christina Watson of Monterey, Calif., Kathryn Watson (Nilka Julio) of San Francisco, Calif., Julie (James) Pooton of Kalispell, Mont., and C. Alden (Jackie) Pearson of River Falls, Wis.; and four great grandchildren.

Gerry and John spent summers at their cabin on Big Sand Lake, near Park Rapids, and winters in Daphne, Ala., which they made their permanent home in 1992.

Gerry loved cooking, gardening, and entertaining. She was skilled in decorating, drawing and painting. Her wit and enthusiasm will be missed.
