Get ready to hike, see nature

The grand opening of the North Country Trail in Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge is Saturday, June 1.

There are guided hikes and activities from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the Pine Lake Boat Access at 10 a.m.

On Friday, May 31, there will be a free presentation by Stan Tekiela, famed Minnesota naturalist, guidebook author, and nature photographer.

This will be at the Frazee High School at 7 p.m.  He will present “The Lives of Wolves, Coyote and Fox.”

Wild raspberry lovers can enjoy a guided 2-mile raspberry hike on July 20, starting at 9 a.m. at the Greenwater Scientific and Natural Area, located 1.5 miles west of the intersection of Becker County roads 37 and 35.
