The first order of business was completed Thursday by the Detroit Lakes girls’ soccer team, as they rolled over Hillcrest in the opening round of the Section 8-1A playoffs.

The No. 2 Lakers (12-3-2) didn’t fall into the trap of losing focus against the No. 7 Hillcrest team (0-16), taking to the nylon early and often for a 7-0 win.

Six goals were scored in the first half, starting at the eight-minute mark, when junior attacker Jade Olson went in for an unassisted tally.
