Gloria J. Nelson, 63, of Callaway, died Monday, November 29, 2010 at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Callaway, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Funeral services for Gloria will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, with Reverend Del Stohs officiating.
Gloria Jane Lindorff was born to Carl and Jane (Boldt) Lindorff on April 12, 1947 in St. Paul. In 1966, Gloria married Richard L. Thomas. In 1979, she was united in marriage to James L. Nelson. Later on in life, Gloria met her best friend and companion, James H. Carrabou, with whom she spent 17 loving years.
Gloria enjoyed collecting angels, Minnie and Mickey Mouse crafts and memorabilia. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed her many friends she made over the Internet. Gloria cared for, loved and provided a home for her pets, and was especially fond of her dog, Betty Boop. For many years Gloria worked as a certified nursing assistant (CAN) and as a waitress.
She will be remembered and missed by her children, Jesse Thomas of Callaway, Todd (Melody) Thomas of Callaway, Howard Thomas of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Shannon Gayton of Lake Park. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lacey Boyda of Sioux Falls, S.D., Corey Thomas of Sioux Falls, Cody Casey of Minneapolis, Keyah Fluit of Inwood, Iowa, Clint Thomas and Alexus Thomas of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and Sandy Thomas of Callaway; along with two great grandchildren, Clayton Boyda and Braiden Thomas, both of Sioux Falls, as well as her sisters, Sandy (Rodney) Boyum of Wabasso, Minn., Kathy (Gary) Seabert of Fennimore, Wis., Linda (Brad) Seiwert of St. Michael, Minn., and Penny (Neil) Warner of Mayer, Ariz.; and one brother, of Sioux Falls, S.D.
Preceding her in death were her parents; stepparents; one daughter, Della Mae Thomas; one brother, Leslie C. Lindorff; and special friend James Carrabou.
