Grand Opening festivities at Holiday Inn start Friday
Holiday Inn on The Lake is reopened! After 34 years of operation the property has become an iconic part of the lakes area community, according to a news release from the hotel.
"No less than four generations of family tradition have enjoyed the hotel for vacations, graduations, reunions, and more," the release states. The property has recently undergone a complete $3 million remodel over the last 12 months. The property stands 30 feet from the waters edge on the north shores of Big Detroit Lake. The original hotel complex was built on the foundations of the old Detroit Ice Company by Madison Properties in 1976.
In June of 2008 Right Choice Lodging, comprised of Red River Valley residents, purchased the property and started proceeding with plans to bring the hotel back to its former glory.
A Grand Opening has been scheduled for Memorial weekend, all are invited. Festivities will be kicked off with a main entrance ribbon cutting Friday at 5 p.m. social to follow. Food and drink specials will be available all weekend. A variety of live entertainment is scheduled both Friday and Saturday evenings.
The first annual boat parade starts at noon beach side, and the weekend is wrapped up on Sunday afternoon, with a Beach Volley Ball Tournament that anyone can sign up for. The Holiday Beach Bar & Grill will have live music on the beach and inside after dark until close. Bring your flip flops!
The proud new owners and the team at The Holiday Inn on The Lake are looking forward to you joining them to celebrate 34 years of business and the reopening of an icon.
