Granite City Armored Car gets award, comes to lake
The owners of Granite City Armored Car, Sauk Rapids, have been selected as the 2008 St. Cloud Area Small Business Owners of the Year, an award presented annually by the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce.
In business since 1971, siblings Deb Kosloske Kittridge, and Tim and Bill "Sonny" Kosloske purchased the business from their parents in 1996. At that time the company had two locations with less than $1 million in sales and 29 employees. Since then the business has grown to seven locations, $3.2 million in sales and 76 employees.
Though armored car identifies the business, it is only one-third of what the company does. They also provide a courier service and climate/humidity controlled document storage. Granite City Armored Car opened its first out of town location in 1993 in Brainerd, where clients receive both courier and armored car service.
Since 2001, the growth of the business has been steady, with branches opening in Litchfield, Fergus Falls, Alexandria, Grand Rapids, Bemidji, and one in Detroit Lakes that opens this month. Document storage is offered only at the Sauk Rapids location, and with the exception of Brainerd, all the other locations are strictly armored car.
The Kosloskes will be honored at the Chamber's annual Business Awards Luncheon, on Tuesday, May 6, at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites, Sauk Rapids.
