Grant will allow ITOW Museum to expand further
The Friends of the Museum has received a $5,000 grant from the Home Depot Foundation to purchase materials to renovate an under-utilized space in the ITOW Veterans Museum in order to better serve veterans and the community.
The renovated space will become an interview room, group facilitation room, educational area, lounging space and will provide additional space to host exhibits and events.
A research library will also be part of the renovated space. Since 1998, the Friends of the Museum have worked to preserve the history of the area and make it available to the public in ways that are interesting and entertaining.
The ITOW Veterans Museum, which opened in 2006, serves a vital role in the community as a place to learn about and honor America's veterans. It also serves as a place for veterans to engage with each other and access resources available for veterans. Veterans organizations including VFW Post 4020 and Auxiliary, American Legion Post 61 and Auxiliary, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Color Guard, the Veterans Service Officer, counselors from the Vet Center, and PTSD Groups all utilize the meeting facilities of ITOW free of charge.
The ITOW Veterans Museum is located at 805 West Main, Perham. For more information call 218-346-7678 or visit www.ITOWmuseum.org
