Grenade training device found in Fargo dumpster
FARGO - Police were called to a northside apartment Sunday afternoon when a grenade was found in a Dumpster, police said today.
The grenade turned out to be a training device and contained no explosives, said Lt. Joel Vettel of the Fargo Police Department.
"It doesn't appear anybody was using it to menace anybody," he said. "It was hidden in a pop can" and found by someone who apparently was looking for aluminum cans to recycle.
The bomb squad was called in and the area, the 500 block of 30th Avenue North, was cordoned off until the device was determined to be harmless, Vettel said.
