Haggart and Henke named DL's Triple A winners

Detroit Lakes seniors Lauren Henke and Mike Haggart have earned the district's nomination for the Triple A award for the year of 2006.

The Triple A award is an honor bestowed to those seniors displaying top achievement in academics, arts and athletics.

Henke has also moved on to the State Triple A competition, after being honored as this tegion's top achiever.

Henke has been a National Honor Society member since her sophomore year and was a member of the math team, Spanish Club and earned the academic excellence award every year since her freshman year.

She is a four-year varsity soccer player and was on the 2003 and 2005 Section 8-1A runner-up Laker squads. She was Mid-State All-Conference her senior year and was the captain, as well.

She also is a four-year varsity gymnast, where she was the captain her junior and senior seasons. Henke rounds out her three-sport athletic career on track as a two-year varsity letter winner.

She was part of the State True Team meet the last three years.

In arts, she is a four-year choir member and was part of the fall musical "Peter Pan" and the Madrigal Renaissance Dinner.

Haggart is a three-year National Honor Society member.

He lettered in football all four years as a running back for the Lakers and was captain his junior and senior seasons. He was named to the All-Section 8-4A team in his senior season.

Haggart was also DL's starting goalie for the boys' hockey team and lettered all four years. He was a four-year letter winner inn track as well.

In the arts, Haggart has been in choir since his freshman year and took part in solo ensemble for four years, gaining a superior rating each time.
