Hanson finishes Frazee career tied for 3rd in state; Ziegler 49th
Frazee senior Beau Hanson climbed up the Class 1A state rankings Wednesday, after shooting a two-over par 74 to pull himself up from No. 6 to a tie for third place in the state meet at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker.
Hanson was sitting in the sixth position after his first-round score of five-over par 77, but he was able to shave off three strokes in round two to improve to a bronze finish with a total mark of 151.
The Frazee senior finishes his career as the Hornets' best golfer to come through the ranks, with four-straight state meet appearances, as well as winning the 2010 state Class 1A championship.
Teammate and fellow senior Zack Ziegler also finished his career in the state meet, his third consecutive trip, by tying for 49th with a final round 173.
Ziegler fired an 89 Tuesday and followed up with a strong front nine Wednesday, ending with a one-over par 37 for a second-round total of 84.
Sophomore Cordell Weber of Martin County West won medalist honors with his even-par 144, while Legacy Christian Academy took the team title with a 316.
