The Lakes Area Community Concert Band rehearses from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Senior High band room. Use the southwest doors. Doors open by 6:30 p.m. Gene Gaffney will direct. Anyone interested in playing with the band is welcome. Openings in all sections, especially percussion. Cabin fever supper
Grace Lutheran Church hosts a cabin fever supper from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3.50 for kids 4-10 and under 3 are free. There will be homemade donuts for sale too.
Numb your Buns

Town hall meeting

DL First Lutheran Church youth serve a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. in the First Lutheran Ristorante (dining room). Cost is $7 per adult, $3 for children 12 and under, and kids 3 and under are free. Maximum charge for one family is $20. Proceeds benefit the youth summer 2008 mission trip to Puerto Rico.

Sweetening the Heart
The DL Christian Women's Club hosts Sweetening the Heart from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Holiday Inn, DL. Cost is $8. Reservations should be made by Feb. 11 to Norma at 846-1977 or Ruth at 847-5507.
St. Mary's Regional Health Center conducts a blood screening for the general public on Feb. 14 from 7-8:30 a.m. in the Frazee Elementary School. Results of 10+ tests are mailed to you within two days. The fee is $35, and pre-paid registration by today is required by calling Frazee Community Ed. at 334-2525. Participants should bring a self-addressed, stamped business size envelope and should not eat for 8 hours preceding the blood test. The Frazee Lions will be conducting a free glaucoma and field of vision screening at the same time and location.

Wendy with Ojibwe Custom Beadwork holds beading classes Wednesdays in February at the Country Charm store at Washington Square Mall, DL. The Spiral Stitch will be taught Feb. 13 and 27. Classes are from 3-5 p.m. and the cost is $15 per stitch. Beading supplies (seed beads, thread, needles, etc.) can be purchased at Country Charm. Is your child between the ages of 3-5 and not been screened? State guidelines make preschool screening mandatory before entrance into kindergarten. The Frazee-Vergas School District will provide a preschool screening free of charge for students who are the ages of 3 by Feb. 1 through the age of 5 by Sept. 1. The screening will cover health history, immunization assessment, vision and hearing screening, and assessment of height and weight. Please call Judi at 334-2525 to schedule an appointment. Screening is Feb. 6 from 8 to 11 a.m. in Bethlehem Lutheran Church for Innovis (Dakota) Health clients, and Feb. 7 from 8 a.m. to noon for MeritCare clients.
The Coronary Health Im-provement Project (CHIP) is designed to help individuals learn how to reserve or normalize heart disease, high blood pressure, adult onset diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity in just 30 days.
