Wednesday, Sept. 17

Meatball supper

The United Methodist Church, DL, hosts a meatball supper from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Adults are $8, children under 10 are $3 and under 6 are free.

MCCL fall tour

Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life hosts a pro-life fall tour meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. in the DL Library. Speakers from the St. Paul office will discuss positive alternatives to abortion, adult stem-cell scientific breakthroughs, the new Positive Alternatives law and how to protect innocent lives from abortion and euthanasia. Music therapy

Music Therapy with Ginny McDougall is performing at 2 p.m. in Diamond Willow, 1558 Randolph Rd, DL, in "The LinK."

Snellman cemetery

Snellman Cemetery meeting meets at 7 p.m. in Snellman Gethsemane Church to discuss lot prices.

LEGOs at the Library

Detroit Lakes Library hosts a LEGOs at the library event for kids at 4 p.m. Participants can bring their own blocks or use the materials provided by the Library. Snacks and prizes will be provided. Kid's creations will be displayed for a month in the Library. This event is geared toward children in kindergarten through grade five.

Women's Bible study

The first class of Thursday Mornings Women Bible study begins at Community Alliance Church. Nursery Care and Little Lambs (ages 3-5) are available. Topics are "Living a Life of Balance" and Revelations. Call Lisa Eischens at 847-0943 to pre-register.

DL Young Professionals

The Detroit Lakes Young Professionals meets from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in St. Mary's Innovis Health, Nursing Center renovation east entrance. Refreshments will be served. Jerry Schutz, local architect, will speak on All Aspects of Success.

Friday, Sept. 19

Fall Bazaar

A Fall Bazaar is at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee, and includes a turkey steak dinner with all the trimmings for $7 beginning at 11 a.m. There will also be crafts, baked goods, quilts, garden produce and a silent quilt auction. Doors open at 10.

Country Twirlers

Lake Park Country Twirlers square dance is at 7:30 p.m. in the Lake Park School. Caller is Roger McNeil.

Crush the Rush

Citizens are welcome to help clean up the city beach by removing flowering rush from 3 to 5 p.m., near the Pavilion. An info session with the DNR and Pelican River Watershed District is at 2:30, along with coffee and cookies. For more info, call 847-4236 or e-mail lakedetroiters@gmail.com.

Saturday, Sept. 20

WELCA fall bazaar

Grove Lake Lutheran WELCA, Pelican Rapids, hosts a fall bazaar, silent auction and bake sale from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Twisted Stitchers

The Twisted Stitchers meet from 9-11 a.m. at 210 So Main in Park Rapids. Happy Micheau will present a program on floor cloths (art for your floor). Come and see this great program and art pieces that are lovely. Everyone is welcome.

Gypsy Twirlers

Gypsy Twirlers square dance meets at 10 a.m. at the Detroit Lakes Country Campground for a workshop. A dance will be at 7:30 p.m. and caller is Jim Kooyer.

Clown Days

Come One, Come All to Clown Days! A special party just for kids (or kids at heart) is set, so get ready for a carnival complete with fun food, games, prizes and of course, clowns. This fun, family event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hubbard County Historical Museum in Park Rapids. For more information, call 218-732-5237.

Dupree benefit

There is a chili benefit for Kathy Dupree, who has terminal cancer. Donations will help with expenses. The benefit is from 11 a.m. to 7p.m. in the Lake Park city center in the Fire Hall. A silent auction and 50-50 raffle will take place during the feed.

Beef roast

Immanuel Lutheran Church, Audubon, hosts a beef roast from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. It is a free-will offering.

Music, dance

A dance begins at 7 p.m. in the White Pine Room, Frazee, to the music of Albert Mikesh.

Amateur Radio Club

The Detroit Lakes Amateur Radio Club Breakfast Meeting is at 9 a.m. in The ClubHouse Hotel. All persons interested in Amateur Radio hobby are welcome.

Republican party open house

The Becker County Republican party hosts an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. in their headquarters, the old Mac's Hardware store. Refreshments will be served. Meet the candidates and pick up McCain/Palin yard signs.

Miscellaneous

DLHS Class of 1958

The Detroit Lakes High School Class of 1958 holds its 50th reunion on Sept. 19-20. Activities will include a noon Ladies Luncheon and Friday night social hour at the ClubHouse Hotel, men's breakfast, 1958 open golf tournament and Saturday night banquet at the Detroit Country Club.

AARP 55-Alive class

AARP 55-Alive classes, Driver Safety Program, are in the Lake Park City Center. A 4-hour course will be Wednesday Oct. 8, from 1:30-5:30, and an 8-hour course for those taking the course for the first time will be Oct. 20-21, from 1:30-5:30 each day. Diaper drive

Lakes Crisis and Resource Center hosts a diaper drive the month of September for needy families in the area. Drop-off points are Wal-Mart, Kmart, Pamida, Holy Rosary Church and Community Alliance Church. For more info, call 847-7446.
