Legion Auxiliary breakfast

American Legion Auxiliary hosts breakfast and a bake sale from 8 a.m. to noon. Build your own omelet, pancakes & sausage, French toast & sausage or biscuits & gravy. There will also be baked and homemade goodies for sale.

Rapunzel

Tickets are on sale for the Frazee-Vergas School musical Rapunzel, with the final performance tonight in the Commons. Show time is at 3. Tickets are available in the high school office and are $6 for adults and $4 for students.

World Run Day

World Run Day Group Run begins at 9 a.m. at the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center. Bring a canned good for every mile you plan to run -- 2, 4 and 6-mile routes available. Founded in 1999 by Long Island Runner Bill McDermott, "World Run Day" is intended to promote the sport of running and charitable giving on one special day each year. Toastmasters

IAAP meeting

Area administrative professionals of the Detroit Lakes IAAP Chapter meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Senior Dining, St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes. Theresa Halverson, human resource professional at Lake Region Electric Cooperative in Pelican Rapids, will present "Strategic Planning."

DL Chapter AARP

The Detroit Lakes Chapter of AARP meets at 10 a.m. in Diamond Willow. The speaker will be Lauri Brooke, Becker County veterans service officer, who will speak on changes in veteran's affairs. Everyone is welcome.

Sons of Norway

Sons of Norway - Vikingland Lodge No. 495 in Detroit Lakes meets at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Nutrition Center. Program is Verlyn Anderson from Moorhead will speak about modern Norway. He was a professor at Concordia College.

Membership dinner

A Sons of Norway - Vikingland Lodge No. 495 in Detroit Lakes membership dinner is at 6 p.m. in the American Legion. Learn the history of Vikingland Lodge No. 495. Tammi Jensen will entertain on the piano. This is open to anyone interested in learning about the local Sons of Norway lodge, interested in learning about rosemaling, hardanger, folkdancing, carving and language class or how to make lefse, krumkake, rosettes, fattiman, romegrot. Reservations are required to Bob Hoover at 847-6345 or Janice Ness at 847-7489.

NARFE meeting

NARFE (National Active & Retired Federal Employees) Chapter 1842 meets at noon in the ClubHouse Hotel. Lunch from the menu begins at noon, with the business meeting following at 1 p.m. Our speaker will be Becker County Veterans Service Officer Lauri Brook. Genealogy class

Want to research your family history? Aren't sure where to start? Come to Beginning Genealogy from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Detroit Lakes Library. Explore ways to find information beyond births, deaths and marriages. Discover genealogical databases found on the Library's Web site as well as other online sources of information using a laptop computer. The class is free, but space is limited. Call 847-2168 to pre-register and take advantage of this great opportunity.

Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum & Research Library. The meeting is open to the public and anyone interested in researching their family history is invited to attend.

PEO Chapter FG

PEO, Chapter FG, meets at 7 p.m. in the home of Claire Wilson, with Mary Haney assisting as hostess. The program will be presented by Sue Eidenschink.
