Monday, Feb. 1

DLMS Band Concert

The Detroit Lakes Middle School Bands will present their Winter Band Concert on Monday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the George Simson Auditorium at DLMS. The 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands will perform. The public is invited to attend the concert, and there is no admission charge.

LP-A Pops Concert

The Lake Park-Audubon High School Pops Concert "Hakuna Matata" is at 7:30 p.m. The concert features Senior High Choir, Junior High Choir, Raider Jazz Band, Raider Pop Group and LPAHS's favorite soloists.

Republican caucuses

The Becker County Republican Party Caucuses start at 7 p.m. at three locations: Minnesota Community and Technical College, Detroit Lakes, Room 101c; Wolf Lake Lions Community Hall, Wolf Lake; Frazee Fire Hall, Frazee.

Precincts for each location are

Wolf Lake: Carsonville, Eagle View, Evergreen, Forest, Green Valley, Osage, Pine Point, Round Lake, Runeberg, Savannah, Shell Lake, Spruce Grove, Toad Lake, Two Inlets, Wolf Lake (city and township)

Frazee: Burlington, Frazee, Height of Land, Silver Leaf, Sugar Bush

Detroit Lakes: All others

DFL precinct caucuses

The 2010 DFL precinct caucuses are at 7 p.m. People living in the following precincts will attend caucuses at Lake Park Audubon High School in Lake Park: Atlanta Township, City of Audubon, City of Lake Park, Cormorant Township, Cuba Township, Hamden Township, Lake Eunice Township, and Lake Park Township. People in all other townships will attend caucuses at the Detroit Lakes Community and Technical College.

Ojibwe language class

An Ojibwe language class is every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes library. It is a potluck supper, and free and open to the public.

Wii Wednesday

A dulcimer jam session is at 6:30 p.m. in the DL United Methodist Church.

Artist Lecture-Marion Otnes

The Kaddatz Gallery in Fergus Falls will host a presentation by artist Marion Otness at 5:30 p.m. as part of its ongoing Artist Lecture Series.

Heisler-Keezer benefit

A spaghetti benefit for Cheryl "Honey" Heisler-Keezer is from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Ogema Hall. She was diagnosed with cancer. There will be raffles and a silent auction also.

Pancake breakfast

Lake Park Lutheran Church is having an Old Timer's Run Pancake Special from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Cost is $5 for pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice, and coffee. Lots of room for parking trailers.

Country gospel/ministry

Youth soccer registration

Summer boys and girls youth soccer registration is from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes High School.

Square dance

Lakes Plus hosts a Plus Square Dance from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall, DL. Jim Kooyer will call tips. All dancers and spectators are welcome.

Super Sunday Breakfast

A Super Sunday Breakfast Fund-raiser is from 8 a.m. to noon in Holy Rosary Church Parish Center, Detroit Lakes. Allow the six youth and their families serve you so they may serve the poor and elderly in Denver this June. Free-will offering accepted. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

Caregiver Retreat

All primary caregivers, that is anyone providing care for a loved one either at home or in a facility, are invited to a Winter Retreat for caregivers; an afternoon of music and relaxation on, Feb. 15 from 2-4. Coin, Stamp Show

The 50th annual Coin and Stamp Show is Jan. 30-31 in the Doublewood Inn, Fargo. It is from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Sunday. Sunday is family day -- free coin books and coins for children 12 and under from 2 to 4 p.m. It is free admission, and there will be door prizes.

'Coping with Grief'

The Community Relations Committee of St. Mary's Foundation presents "Coping with Grief" on Feb. 18 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This seminar emphasizes the importance of meaning in our lives during times of loss. RSVP required by Feb. 11, please call (218) 844-0719.
