BC taxpayers meeting
The Becker County Taxpayers Association meets at 7 p.m. in the DL Library. On the agenda is commissioners and District 2 representatives to comment on property tax issues. Everyone is welcome.
Lakes Area Quilters
The monthly meeting of the Lakes Area Quilters is at 7 p.m. in Emmanuel Nursing Home in the Aspen room. The meeting is free and open to anyone who has an interest in quilting.
Tamarac Wildlife Refuge hosts a Wildlife Excursion at 10 a.m. Explore the refuge with a knowledgeable guide. Search for wildlife and learn about the cultural and natural history of Tamarac. Meet at the Chippewa Picnic Area.
Saturday, Aug. 25
The St. Peter's Lutheran, Audubon, annual pork roast is 4-7 p.m. It is a free-will offering.
The third annual Ole's Ride, benefiting Hospice of the Red River Valley, begins at noon at Billy's Corner Bar in Vergas. Cost is $25 per bike, $15 for additional rider. Price includes shirt, meal and chances at door prizes at each stop. Tattooing by Noodle on site the entire day of the ride. Food and live music by David Lee following the ride. Registration is from 10 a.m.-noon and leaves at noon sharp.
The 3rd annual Helping Haiti Fundraiser Community Picnic from 5-7 p.m. in Peoples Park The picnic meal is $5. There will be a raffle and a motorcycle ride leaving Peoples Park at 1 p.m. Registration starts at noon. The Red River Valley Pullers Association hosts Thunder in Detroit Lakes, a modified truck and tractor pull. Gates at the Becker County Fairgrounds open at 3 p.m., with the event starting at 5.

Evening prayer service
An evening prayer service at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, DL, is every Wednesday through August. Come at 6 p.m. for a light supper, followed by a gospel study or topical presentation at 7.
The Shoreham Chapel, Lake Melissa, service is at 10:45 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship. Special music is by Brent Nelson. Everyone is welcome. The annual meeting will follow at noon.
Steak fry fundraiser
The 1st Zinger Squadron host a steak fry fundraiser from 5 p.m. until it's gone in the American Legion Club, DL. Cost is $9.

Tuesdays in the Park
