Becker County Democrats
The Becker County DFL meets at 7 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the Detroit Lakes Public Library.
Thursday, Sept. 13
Heart O'Lakes Genealogical Society holds its regular meeting on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. Anyone who is interested in researching their family history is invited to attend. There will be some time to research following the meeting. Girl Scouts sign-up
Sign-up night for Girl Scouts is from 6 to 8 p.m. in Rossman Elementary School, DL. All girls from kindergarten on up are welcome to bring their parents and learn more about Girl Scouts. There will be games, crafts and fun for the girls, and parents can meet leaders and ask questions. This is for Detroit Lakes, Frazee and Lake Park/Audubon girls.
PEO Chapter FG
P.E.O. Chapter FG meets at 7 p.m. in the home of Julie Aanenson, with Judy Brenna and Judy Fankhanel assisting. The program will be presented by Janis Gustafson. Dessert will be served.

Toast to Tamarac
The Friends of Tamarac invite you to their second annual Toast to Tamarac at Richwood Winery from 4 to 8 p.m. The fundraiser will include wine tasting, appetizers, silent auction, games of chance and live music by the David Ferreira Trio, accompanied by Mike Bullock from Mike and the Monsters. Cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Profits from this event will help support the environmental education program at Tamarac, which connects children with nature.

Old Time Variety Dance
An Old Time Variety dance is from 7 to 10 p.m. in the White Pine Room, Frazee. Music is by Marie and the Boys.
EAA chapter 1498 picnic
The EAA Chapter 1498 annual picnic is at 11 a.m. in Long Lake Park, adjacent to Wething Field, Detroit Lakes. Pilots and their families are invited to attend. The chapter will provide lunch at noon. Bring your stories and enjoy the afternoon.
Church fall bazaar

Bakke Lutheran Church hosts an Old Fashioned Roast Beef Supper from 4-7 p.m. Adults are $10, children 4-12 are $4, and 3 and under are free.
Tamarac citizen program
Learn how to turn your Tamarac wildlife or plant sightings into a documented citizen science observation at the Tamarac Citizen Science Program introduction adventure from 10 .m. to noon. The Tamarac specific program is a fun refuge activity that visitors can do alone or as a group while making a valuable contribution. Be prepared for modest walking and bring your camera if you have one. Meet at the Chippewa Picnic Area located 3 miles past the visitor center on County Hwy 26.

St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Hawley, hosts a September dinner with turkey and all the trimmings from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Adults are $10, ages 6-12 are $4 and preschool are free.
Fall chicken dinner
St. Francis Xavier Church, Lake Park, hosts its annual fall chicken dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults are $10, ages 6-12 are $4 and preschoolers and under are free. Craft and bake sale items also available.
Rising Sun Dancers
The Rising Sun Dancers host a dance starting at 2 p.m. in the Waubun Community Center. Larry Johansen will call the tips. The club will serve lunch. Spectators are always welcome.
Color guard breakfast
The Lake Region Veterans Color Guard fundraiser breakfast is from 8 a.m. to noon in the DL Legion. Suggested donation is $6.50.
Kayak tour of Two Island Lake
Join a Tamarac ranger at 2 p.m. for a kayak cruise on Two Island Lake. Learn about the aquatic wildlife ecosystem while watching wildlife during this special time of year. Bring your own kayak or canoe. Life jackets are required. Meet at the Two Island Lake access on Hwy 143.

The Izaak Walton League hosts guest speaker Clayton Daughenbaugh -- talking about Utah's commitment to "taking care of what we have" -- at 7 p.m. in the lower level meeting room in the DL library. There will also be a mini-silent auction with 2 attractive items.
