LPHS Class of 1953
The Lake Park High School Class of 1953 will have a get together in the Lake Park Legion during Pumpkin Fest and all Class Reunion. The Legion will be open at 5 p.m. All Class of 53 are asked to bring a dish to pass: Hors de oeuvres or small sandwiches. Anyone interested in stopping by to visit is welcome.

EAA chapter 1498
EAA Chapter 1498 holds a meet and greet at the Wething Airport at Detroit Lakes each Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Aviators and aviation buffs are welcome. Come enjoy the coffee and rolls and listen to the countless stories from many of the pilots in attendance.
Fall color hike
The North Country Trail Association hosts a family-friendly guided "Fall Color" hike to Hallaway Hill at Maplewood State Park. Participants should meet at the Josh Hanson Memorial Picnic Shelter at 9 a.m. for the 0.8-mile round trip hike that will offer fantastic views of the fall foliage. The hike is free, but State Park admission requirements apply. Strollers are not advised on this hike because of numerous steps along the trail.

Learning about phones
Come learn more about telephone equipment that can benefit you or someone you know that has trouble using a standard phone. The State of Minnesota's Telephone Equipment Distribution (TED) Program hosts the meeting at 10:30 a.m. in the Emmanuel Nursing Home Forest Conf Room. Everyone is welcome.
PEO Chapter DQ
DQ, PEO meets at 1 p.m. in the Congregational Church. The program will be given by Justine Boots. Hostesses are Fran Johnson, Joan Westlake, Cindy Legler and Sylvia Campion.
A Bible study on "Faithful Abundant True" by Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore is for seven weeks from 9 to 11 a.m. at Lakes Area Vineyard Church, DL. All women are welcome.

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.
High Mileage Club
High Mileage Club meets the first Tuesday of each month in Community Alliance Church, DL. There is a pot-blessing meal at noon, followed by a time of sharing birthdays and anniversaries, a Bible Nugget and special music. This is an inter-denominational fellowship for all those 55 and over.
DAV membership banquet
The DAV Chapter 31 annual membership banquet begins with social hour at 5:30 in the American Legion, DL, followed by dinner at 6:30. Paid up members are free, and others are $8.
Learning about Labels

Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary Blood Screening is Sept. 24-28 from 7-10 a.m. in Essentia Clinic. Public invited to participate, fasting for eight hours is required. Cost is $35.
Harvest Moon weekend
Harvest Mon weekend is Sept. 28-30 in Vergas. Area businesses will have drawings and specials, a spaghetti dinner is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Vergas Event Center and there will be karaoke from 7 to 11 p.m.
Pumpkins n Ponies
Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 6-28, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Timberline Ranch will be having hayrides to a pumpkin patch, roasting hot dogs over an open fire, offering small trail rides, free petting farm and a few more surprises. The ranch is 5 minutes from DL on Hwy 34 east.
For the Whole Family
Children birth to 5 years and their parents are invited to attend this free class that will meet Fridays, Sept. 28-Dec. 7, from 9:15-10:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Education Center. Through stories, irresistible hands-on explorations and social interactions, children will learn skills that prepare them for success in their next stage of development. A coat give-away is Oct. 1-5 and 8-12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, DL. Anyone in need of winter coats, hats and mittens can pick them up at no charge. Items will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis in size from children to adult.
LPA Community Ed events
Lake Park Audubon Community Education is hosting three magnificent events on Nov. 10 -- the Health & Leisure Expo, Holiday Expo and a rummage sale. They are looking for vendors. Holiday Expo is $12 per space; Health & Leisure is $25 per space, and rummage sale is $10 per space. There will be $5 extra per table if community ed provides them. Each event is in a separate room. AARP 55-Alive driving class
