Swedish meatball dinner

Lund Lutheran Church, Richwood Road, hosts a Swedish meatball dinner from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults, $4 for children 6-12 and free for ages 5 and under.

Rising Sun Dancers

The Rising Sun Dancers host a square dance from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Waubun Community Center. Royce Nelson will call the tips. Lunch will be served by the club. Visitors and spectators are always welcome.

Emmanuel nursing home hosts trick or treating for kids between 2 to 3 p.m.

Lakes Area Birding Club

The Lakes Area Birding Club meets at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Public Library. Dennis Mudderman will present a program on birding in Texas. Visitors are welcome.

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.

Lake Country Scenic Byway

The Lake Country Scenic Byway Association meeting is the first Friday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in Grace Community Church, Osage.

VFW, Auxiliary banquet

The annual membership banquet for VFW Post 9880 and Auxiliary is at the post home in Ogema. Social hour will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be a short program followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Guests are welcome and need to be accompanied by a VFW Post 9880 or Auxiliary member.

LP Garden Club

The Lake Park Garden Club meets at 1 p.m. in the Jane Nelson home, 14401 County Road 5. This will be a planning meeting for 2013 meetings and programs. We encourage prospective members to attend, and we are always interested in suggestions for future projects and/or informative programs. Call 532-2597 or 532-2883 if you would like information on the District 11 Horticultural Show on Aug. 1, 2013, that the Lake Park club will be hosting.

Pumpkins n Ponies

Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 6-28, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Timberline Ranch will be having hayrides to a pumpkin patch, roasting hot dogs over an open fire, offering small trail rides, free petting farm and a few more surprises. The ranch is 5 minutes from DL on Hwy 34 east.

Haunted woods, barn

The Second Time Around Shop, located on Highway 59 between Ogema and Waubun hosts a haunted woods and barn Oct. 26-27 from dusk to 11 p.m. Cost is $10. For more info, call 218-204-0192 or 218-850-1100.
