Frazee blood screening

Essentia Health, Frazee-Vergas Schools Staff Wellness, Frazee Care Center and Frazee-Vergas Community Education offer a blood screening from 7 to 8:30 a.m. in the Frazee Care Center lobby. Faith and Freedom concert

The Refuge and United Team International host a Faith and Freedom concert featuring John Schlitt from Petra, with opening band Pure, at 7 p.m. in the Holmes Theatre. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults in advance and $10 at the door. Call 847-1982 for tickets.

Friendly Square dance

The Friendly Squares host a square dance in the Park Rapids High School. There will be a "plus workshop" from 7:30-8 p.m. and mainstream dancing from 8-10. The caller will be Larry Johansen, and Donna Stone will cue round dancing between tips. There will be a potluck lunch furnished by the club members. All square dancers and spectators are invited.

Winter Vendor Blender, Craft Show

The 2012 Winter Vendor Blender and Craft Show is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in Holiday Inn, DL. There will be over 35 vendors in attendance and will be giving away over $1,000 in door prizes. For more information, contact Michelle Beck at 841-7872.

Church bazaar

Grace Lutheran Church hosts is annual bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food, crafts, bake sale, Christmas decorations, quilt raffle and more. There will also be demonstrations of rosemaling, wood carving and lefsa making.

Daddy Squeeze performs

Dan "Daddy Squeeze" Newton, master accordionist, enjoys mixing up styles and genres that don't generally seem compatible. He performs at 10:30 a.m. in the Detroit Lakes Library.

Sons of Norway meeting

Vikingland Lodge No. 495, Detroit Lakes, meets beginning with soup and sandwiches at 6 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7, in Union Central. The program is "Let's Go Fishing" video, with history of program told by Dave and Betty Hochhalter.

The Rose Ensemble tour

The Rose Ensemble, with special guest Isacco Colombo, performs at 7 p.m in First Lutheran Church, DL, as part of the annual Greater Minnesota Tour. Tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for students and seniors with ID.

Thanksgiving dinner

Everyone is invited to a free Thanksgiving service and dinner in the Detroit Lakes Middle School on Nov. 18. All food is provided by Community Alliance Church. The service is at 11 a.m., followed by the meal from noon to 12:45 p.m.

Mental health meetings

The Becker County Children's Local Advisory Council on Mental Health meets monthly at Solutions Behavioral Health, 1104 W. River Road, DL. This council exists to assess local mental health services for children, identify needs, and advise the county on how to perfect the system. The council is seeking parents of children who currently access the mental health system. Also encouraged to attend are men and women who accessed local mental health services when they were children or adolescents. Meetings are scheduled for Nov. 19 and Dec. 17 at noon.

LPA Community Ed events

Lake Park Audubon Community Education is hosting three magnificent events on Nov. 10 -- the Health & Leisure Expo, Holiday Expo and a rummage sale. They are looking for vendors. Holiday Expo is $12 per space; Health & Leisure is $25 per space, and rummage sale is $10 per space. There will be $5 extra per table if community ed provides them. Each event is in a separate room. L.A. Moms group

L.A. (Lakes Area) Moms is designed to nurture every mother. At our L.A. Moms group, you will have a chance to socialize with other moms, hear some great teaching, have discussion time and participate in creative activities. L.A. Moms is held the first and third Wednesday of each month throughout the school year from 9-11 a.m. at the Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes. For more info, call 218-846-1199.

Wednesday story time

Family fun story time is every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the VFW in Pelican Rapids. Everyone is welcome. Listen to, or tell, your favorite story.

TOPS meeting

Minnesota TOPS Chapter 1251 meets every Tuesday in the Lake Park Lutheran Church, using the West church entrance to the basement. Effective April 3, weigh-ins start at 4 p.m., the meeting starts at 4:15 p.m. For more information, call Marion at 218-532-2883.

Birthing class

St. Mary's Innovis Health hosts childbirth preparation classes for expectant mothers in their sixth to seventh month of pregnancy. Topics include Labor & Delivery, Cesarean Birth, Role of the Labor Companion, Newborn Care, Unexpected Outcomes, Breast & Bottle Feeding, Postpartum Period, Breathing Patterns & Relaxation Techniques. Card making, scrapbook classes

The DL Senior Citizen Center hosts a card making and scrapbooking class every Monday from 9 a.m. to noon. Donated cards are welcome.
