Teachers Tea

To celebrate the 91st annual American Education Week, Nov. 11-17, the DL American Legion Auxiliary hosts its annual tea and coffee party for current and retired educators and support staff from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. with roll call of schools at 4:15. For more info, call Thomas Frank at 847-6274.

Christian Women's Club

Learn to make lefse

Want to learn or help make lefse? Join the Detroit Lakes Sons of Norway Lodge members on their "Lefse Bake Day" beginning at 9 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, DL. All are welcome. If you have any questions, contact Dorothy at 847-6345.

ULTRA Snowmobile Club

ULTRA Snowmobile Club holds its November General Membership Meeting at 7 p.m. in the Sandbar. Note: this is a week early due to Thanksgiving. All are welcome.

Kids build "I Spy" puzzle

Elementary-age kids, along with teens, are invited to Detroit Lakes Library from 3:45 to 5 p.m. to make an "I Spy" creation. Heavy paper and an assortment of pictures and small items will be provided. Bring your own small items as well. Participants will build the puzzles and then they will be photographed to make an "I Spy" picture book. There will be snacks and door prizes.

eReaders, library class

A class about eReaders and LARL Digital Loans is at 5:30 p.m. in the Frazee LINK Site. Participants should bring their laptop computer and eReader if they have them. If you have a Kindle, please know your Amazon email and password. Class size is limited to 6 people. Country Twirlers square dance

The Lake Park Country Twirlers square dance is at 7:30 p.m. in the IOOF Hall in Detroit Lakes. Caller is Abe Maier.

Lutefisk, meatball supper

The American Legion Post 15 1st Zinger Squadron lutefisk and meatball supper is from 5 p.m. until it's gone. Lutefisk, white ticket, is $13, and meatballs, red ticket, is $10.

Saturday, Nov. 17

Santa photos with pets

Santa photos with your pets are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Becker Pet & Garden. Bring your pets and family to have a holiday photo taken. You will receive a CD of your photos that day for $15. Each photo group will receive a $5 Candy Store gift certificate. Free hot cider and fudge samples at The Candy Store.

Fall Bazaar

St. Peter's Catholic Church, Park Rapids, hosts a fall bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be coffee and rolls, lunch, crafts, children's dollar store, bake sale and more. It is free admission.

Friendly Squares dance

The Friendly Squares host a square dance in Park Rapids Eagles Club. There will be a "plus workshop" from 7:30-8 p.m. and mainstream dancing from 8-10. The caller will be Lanny Weakland, and Donna Stone will cue round dancing between tips. The club members will furnish finger food. All square dancers and spectators are welcome.

Coin show

The North Dakota State Coin Show is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Doubletree Inn, Fargo. It is free admission, and there will be door prizes. Dealers from the upper Midwest will buy, sell or trade numismatic materials.

Beginning Genealogy

An old time variety dance is from 7-10 p.m. in the White Pine Room, Frazee. Hank Reitan and the Highway 113 Band will provide music.

Sunday, Nov. 18

Thanksgiving dinner

Everyone is invited to a free Thanksgiving service and dinner in the Detroit Lakes Middle School. All food is provided by Community Alliance Church. The service is at 11 a.m., followed by the meal from noon to 12:45 p.m.

Turkey bingo

The Callaway Lions Club hosts turkey bingo at 7 p.m. in the Callaway Community Center.

Rising Sun Dancers

The Rising Sun Dancers host a dance from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Waubun Community Center. Roger McNeil will call the tips. Lunch will be served by the club. All dancers and spectators are welcome.

Color Guard breakfast

The Lake Region Color Guard fund-raiser breakfast is 8 a.m. to noon in the DL Legion Club. Suggested donation is $6.50.

Monday, Nov. 19

Ikes meeting

Prairie Woods Chapter of the Izaak Walton League meets from 7-8:30 p.m. in the main floor meeting room at the library. Becker County Natural Resource Manager Marty Wiley will present on "A Forest Management Plan for Becker Co Tax Forfeited Lands." The public is urged to attend and learn Becker County's process for handling tax forfeited lands.

Chapter DQ, PEO

Chapter DQ, P.E.O. meets at 5 p.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. A light meal will be served. Dana Emery is the hostess and will present the program. Co-hostesses are Lynn Petit, Betty Keller, Vicki Stigen and Kathy Graff.

Santa letters

The Detroit Lakes Women of Today are helping Santa! Visit www.facebook.com/groups/dlwomenoftoday to download and print your form, or pick one up at Central Market, The Washington Square Mall, The Library or The Chamber of Commerce, to get a personalized letter sent to your child. Proceeds benefit local organizations and service projects. Cost is $3 per letter.

Turkey Day 5k

A Turkey Day 5k run/walk begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. in the Lake Park American Legion. Cost is $25, includes a hoodie sweatshirt, and proceeds benefit the Families Forever Scholarship. To register, visit http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=2066054.

Mental health meetings

The Becker County Children's Local Advisory Council on Mental Health meets monthly at Solutions Behavioral Health, 1104 W. River Road, DL. This council exists to assess local mental health services for children, identify needs, and advise the county on how to perfect the system. The council is seeking parents of children who currently access the mental health system. Also encouraged to attend are men and women who accessed local mental health services when they were children or adolescents. Meetings are scheduled for Nov. 19 and Dec. 17 at noon.

L.A. Moms group

L.A. (Lakes Area) Moms is designed to nurture every mother. At our L.A. Moms group, you will have a chance to socialize with other moms, hear some great teaching, have discussion time and participate in creative activities. L.A. Moms is held the first and third Wednesday of each month throughout the school year from 9-11 a.m. at the Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes. For more info, call 218-846-1199.

Card making, scrapbook classes

The DL Senior Citizen Center hosts a card making and scrapbooking class every Monday from 9 a.m. to noon. Donated cards are welcome.
