The Knights of Columbus sponsors a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center.
Lakes Plus square dance
Lakes Plus will have a dance from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall at 118 W. Holmes St., DL. Larry Johansen will call the tips. A finger food potluck lunch will be served. All dancers and spectators are welcome.
St. Theodore's Church, Ponsford/Pine Point, hosts turkey bingo at 1:30 p.m. There will be 20 games, 20 winners. Free lunch.
Turkey dinner, basket event
Sacred Heart Church, Frazee, hosts a turkey dinner and basket event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a turkey dinner and basket silent auction. Lunch is a free-will offering, and everyone is welcome.
Taste of Christmas
Faith Lutheran Church, DL, hosts A Taste of Christmas at 5 p.m. Come sample a taste of traditional Christmas foods, decorate the Christmas tree and share a Christmas story.
Lakes Crisis and Resource Center hosts its 4th annual Santa's Breakfast from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at M State. A pancake and sausage breakfast will be provided. Free cinema day
M State and the World Cinema class host a free movie day for the public. Movies are Wall-E from 10 to 11:40 a.m., White Christmas from noon to 2:05 p.m. and The Avengers from 2:30 to 5 p.m. They are shown in the M State conference room, and concessions are available for purchase. Everyone is welcome.

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.
High Mileage Fellowship
High Mileage Fellowship meets the first Tuesday of each month in Community Alliance Church, DL. There is a pot-blessing meal at noon, followed by a time of sharing birthdays and anniversaries, a Bible Nugget and special music. This is an inter-denominational fellowship for all those 55 and over.
Learning to write children's books
Acclaimed Minnesota children's author Nancy Carlson will show you how to tap into your creative and imaginative side to write phenomenal children's books. She speaks at 6:30 p.m. in the DL Library.

The Detroit Lakes Women of Today are helping Santa! Visit www.facebook.com/groups/dlwomenoftoday to download and print your form, or pick one up at Central Market, The Washington Square Mall, The Library or The Chamber of Commerce, to get a personalized letter sent to your child. Proceeds benefit local organizations and service projects. Cost is $3 per letter.
Lake Park Community Ed
Lake Park Community Education offers several upcoming classes. Holiday Baking with Anne -- Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 6 to 10 in Lake Park High School Consumer Science Room. Cost is $8 plus price of ingredients. Bring a take home container the night of the class.
Scrap-booking with Candi. Classes are Tuesday, Jan. 15, 22, 29, and Feb. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Fee is $30 for all 4 classes plus cost of supplies paid to Candi.
