Color Guard breakfast

The Lake Region Veterans Color Guard fundraiser breakfast is from 8 a.m. to noon in the DL American Legion. It is a suggested donation of $6.50.

Mental Health Advisory

Council

The Becker County Children's Local Advisory Council on Mental Health meets monthly at noon in Solutions Behavioral Health, 1104 W. River Road, DL. The council is seeking parents of children who currently access the mental health system.

Izaak Walton League

The Izaak Walton League, Prairie Woods Chapter, meets from 7-8:30 p.m. in the DL Library main meeting room. A representative of the Greater Minnesota Regional Park and Trail Coalition will address issues connected with fairness of distribution of Parks and Trails Legacy Funds and efforts toward resolution. The discussion will center around metro versus outstate area awards.

Agency on Aging

The West Central Area Agency on Aging Joint Powers Board meets at 9:30 a.m. in the Agency on aging office, Fergus Falls.

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.

Lions Club

Wednesday, Dec. 19

Mini Advent concert

DL First Lutheran Church presents its third Advent mini-concert from noon to 12:30 p.m., followed by soup and sandwiches from 12:30 to 1. Performing will be Russell Bunker and Paul Heisler, piano duo and Kathy Larson, vocalist. Lunch is a free-will offering. The public is invited to attend.

Plus square dance

Larry's Plus square dance is 7-9 p.m. in the IOOF Hall, 118 W Holmes St, Detroit Lakes. Larry Johansen is the caller.

Thursday, Dec. 20

Holiday crafts

Elementary-age kids, along with teens, are invited to Detroit Lakes Library from 3:45 to 5 p.m. to make holiday crafts. Material will be provided for several holiday decorations. Lutefisk, meatball dinner

The American Legion Post 15 First Zinger Squadron hosts a lutefisk and meatball dinner beginning at 5 p.m. until gone. Lutefisk is $13 and meatball is $10, combo is $12.

Jingle Bells Holiday Concerts

The Detroit Lakes Early Childhood Family Education Program invites all families with preschoolers to free Jingle Bells Holiday Concerts with Tim Eggebraaten. Concerts will be held at the Lincoln Education Center on Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 6:30-7:15 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 10-10:45 a.m. Childcare providers and grandparents are also welcome to bring children they care for. Santa letters

The Detroit Lakes Women of Today are helping Santa! Visit www.facebook.com/groups/dlwomenoftoday to download and print your form, or pick one up at Central Market, The Washington Square Mall, The Library or The Chamber of Commerce, to get a personalized letter sent to your child. Proceeds benefit local organizations and service projects. Cost is $3 per letter.

Lake Park Community Ed

Lake Park Community Education offers several upcoming classes. Scrap-booking with Candi. Classes are Tuesday, Jan. 15, 22, 29, and Feb. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Fee is $30 for all 4 classes plus cost of supplies paid to Candi.

On going classes: Yoga, Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. Fee is $5 per session; Zumba, Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fee is $5 per session.

L.A. Moms group

L.A. (Lakes Area) Moms is designed to nurture every mother. At our L.A. Moms group, you will have a chance to socialize with other moms, hear some great teaching, have discussion time and participate in creative activities. L.A. Moms is held the first and third Wednesday of each month throughout the school year from 9-11 a.m. at the Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes. For more info, call 218-846-1199.

Faithful Parents Group

Parents Supporting Parents meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. Help and support for those who are struggling with addition among their family or friends. At 8 p.m. is a conference prayer call at 213-493-0800 pin #414742. Everyone is welcome to call in with prayer requests.
