Monday, Dec. 31

Old Timers Dance group

The Old Timers Dance Group hosts a New Year's Eve dance from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Rockin' Horse Cafe in Richville. Take Hwy 78 south of Perham to County Hwy 14 west, just over the tracks. There is no cover charge.

Friendly Squares dance

The Friendly Squares host a square dance on New Years Eve at 8 p.m. in the airport in Park Rapids. The dance will be from 8 to 10 p.m., with a potluck supper at 10 to 11 and more dancing from 11 to midnight. The caller will be Roger Lueth, and Donna Stone will cue round dancing between tips. All square dancers are invited.

Thursday, Jan. 3

MAC NAPS

The January MAC-NAPS distribution is from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Applications are available at St. Luke's church. To qualify, you must be at least 60 years old age and meet the USDA income guidelines.

Dulcimer jam

A dulcimer jam is at 6:30 p.m. in Lincoln Park, 307 Park St., DL.

Saturday, Jan. 5

Snowmobile ride

ULTRA Snowmobile Club hosts a Classic Cruise of 1980s and older snowmobiles. The ride begins at 10 a.m. at the Becker County Fairgrounds and goes from DL to Vergas and back. No trail permits are needed for the ride.

Sunday, Jan. 6

Pancake breakfast

The Knights of Columbus sponsors a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Parish Center.

Lakes Plus square dance

Lakes Plus hosts a square dance at 2 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall, 118 W. Holmes St. Detroit Lakes. Roger McNeil will call the tips. A potluck finger food lunch will be available during the dance. Visitors and spectators are welcome.

Ladies Bibles tudy

Community Alliance Church, DL, hosts a ladies Bible study Thursdays beginning Thursday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. Childcare available for all ages. For more info, call 847-2266.

Lake Park Community Ed

Lake Park Community Education offers several upcoming classes. Scrap-booking with Candi. Classes are Tuesday, Jan. 15, 22, 29, and Feb. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Fee is $30 for all 4 classes plus cost of supplies paid to Candi.

On going classes: Yoga, Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. Fee is $5 per session; Zumba, Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fee is $5 per session.

Senior driver safety course

Defensive driving 4-hr class is being offered Jan. 16 from 1-5 p.m. in the United Community Insurance Agency, Perham (Next to Lakes Cafe). There will be an 8-hour session Jan. 30 and 31 from 5-9 p.m. both days. Open to anyone wanting to maintain 10 percent insurance discount. Preschool screening

Preschool screening for 3-5 year olds for the Frazee-Vergas district is provided through Becker County Community Health Services. Call Annie at 218-847-5628 ext. 5419 to make an appointment. This one screening will provide your child the requirements for Early Childhood Screening. Minnesota law requires each child attend a health and developmental screening before kindergarten.
