Friendly Squares dance
The Friendly Squares host their graduation dance in the Century School, Park Rapids. There will be plus workshop at 7:30 p.m., and mainstream dancing from 8-10. The caller will be Royce Nelson. Rounds between tips. Potluck lunch furnished by members. All square dancers and spectators are welcome.
Saturday, Feb. 23
A benefit for Sharon Schmitt, who is fighting colon cancer, is from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Lake Park American Legion. There will be a spaghetti feed, silent auction, bake sale, T-shirt sale and raffle. Cash donations can be made to Bell State Bank & Trust.
The Detroit Lakes Jaycees host their annual Senior Dinner for all senior citizens beginning at 11 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church. A ham dinner will be served until the food is gone. Lakes Figure Skating show
Lakes Figure Skating's Spring Ice Show, "Dance Party on Ice," is at 2 p.m. in the Kent Freeman Arena. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Preschool and under are free. Concessions and flowers are available.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee, hosts Soup Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is a free-will offering. There will also be homemade breads, rolls and buns for sale.

Lake Park Community Education offers several upcoming classes. Twine Rug Making: Don't throw your old jeans and material away. Rug making class is Feb. 11 and 18 in the LPA Elementary. Fee is $25.
The Bully Class: Topics include What is a Bully? Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, ADHA -- Child Anxiety, Label Reading, Early warning signs of Developmental Disabilities, and Strategies for working with challenging children. It is Feb. 23 in the LPA Elementary from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fee is $20 and includes a light lunch.
Spring Cleaning with Non Toxic Cleaners: It is Feb. 28 from 6:30 to 8 in the LPA Elementary. Fee is $8.
Senior driver safety course
Defensive driving 4-hr class is being offered Feb. 7 from 9a.m.-1 p.m. and Feb. 27 from 1-5 p.m. in the United Community Insurance Agency, Perham (Next to Lakes Cafe). Cost is $13. An 8-hour class will be held Feb. 26-27, from 1-5 p.m. each night. Cost is $20. Open to anyone wanting to maintain 10 percent insurance discount. L.A. Moms group
L.A. (Lakes Area) Moms is designed to nurture every mother. At our L.A.
