Saturday, March 9

Slow Food Feast
The White Earth Land Recovery Project hosts a slow food feast at 6 p.m. in the Historical Holmes Ball-room. Suggested donation is $25 per person or $40 per couple. For tickets, call 844-7469.

Hop into spring
Grace Lutheran Church, DL, hosts Hop into Spring ham and baked potato dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 4-12 and children under 3 are free.

Rep. Green meeting
Rep. Steve Green holds a town hall meeting at 12:30 p.m. in Palace Cafe, Frazee.

Pie social, open gym
The Seventh Day Adventist Church, DL, hosts a pie social and open gym beginning at 6 p.m. Please use lower entrance. For more info, call April at 849-5233.

Hairball event
The Marshmallow Foundation’s spring fundraiser, Hairball Event, starts at 4 p.m. in Zorbaz, Detroit Lakes. Tickets for $25 include pizza buffet, one drink and entry. There will be live music, raffle prizes, attendance prizes, cash drawings and silent raffles. To purchase, call 847-9040 or stop by Lucky Dog. There will also be a dart tournament held in conjunction, with registration beginning at 1:30.

Pancake breakfast
The Callaway Lions Club hosts a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Callaway Community Center. It is a free-will offering.

Monday, March 11

Grieving my way
Grieving my Way, a support group for parents who have experienced the loss of a child of any age, meets the second Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Hospice building. For more info, call Brenda at 846-9275.

PEO Chapter DQ
Chapter DQ, P.E.O. meets at 1 p.m. in The Madison. Janet Green is the hostess, with Mary Seaworth and Maureen Karsnia assisting. Sally Oja will present the program, “The Wonder of Weaving,” and the chapter will celebrate Ruth Renier’s 60th anniversary as a P.E.O.

Tuesday, March 12

Overeaters Anonymous, Serenity Group
Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.

Children’s book author to speak
Mary Casanova, an award-winning children’s author of novels and picture books, visits Detroit Lakes Library at noon. Bring a brown bag lunch. Many of her books stem from her life on the Minnesota-Canadian border; yet some of her stories have taken her as far away as France, Norway, and Belize.

Meatball dinner
Breakfast Rotary Club hosts a meatball dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in M State cafeteria. It is a free-will donation, and proceeds will go to the Becker County Food Pantry.

Sons of Norway
Sons of Norway Vikingland Lodge No. 495 meets for a chili dump supper at 6 p.m., with meeting to follow at 7, in Union Central. Members are to bring a small container of chili to be dumped all together. The program is Chuck Standal from West-Kjos Funeral Home.

‘Walking by faith’
The DL Christian Women’s Club host ‘Walking by Faith, not by Sight’ from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Hol-iday Inn. Lunch cost is $8.75. Make reservations by March 11 to Norma at 846-1977 or Ruth at 847-5507.

Genealogical society
Heart O’Lakes Genealogical Society meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Becker County Museum. Anyone who is interested in researching their family history is invited to attend. There will be some time to research following the meeting. For more info, call Virginia Weston at 847-6483.

PEO Chapter FG
P.E.O Chapter FG meets at 7 p.m. in the home of Judy Fankhanel, with Linda Engleman and Carol McCarthy assisting. Program will be presented by Mary Haney. Dessert will be served.

BC republicans
The Becker County Republicans meet at 7 p.m. in the DL City Offices.

Family Fun Carnival
Bethlehem Lutheran Preschool/Daycare sponsors a Family Fun Carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee. There will be 25 games for all ages. Lots of fun and prizes. Tickets are 4/$1. Lunch is available.

Women’s program
Essentia Health St. Mary’s Foundation will be hosting a program for women only about lagging libido and what can be done to treat it. It is Thursday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. in LaBarista. Hope Mathern, D-NP, and Michelle England, MSW, will be discussing physiologic, psychological and relationship factors which affect libido in women and solutions for improving libido. Coffee and treats will be served. RSVP is required at 844-0719 or e-mail Monique.anderson@essentiahealth.org.

Zion Lenten services
Zion Lutheran Church hosts Lenten services March 13 and 20 at 4:30 and 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Holy Rosary Lenten services
Knights of Columbus host Friday night fish fries during Lent on March 15 and 22. They are from 5 to 7 p.m. in Holy Rosary Parish Center. Adults are $8 and students under 12 are $5.

Sacred Hearth Lenten dinners
Knights of Columbus Frazee Council 12581 annual Lenten fish dinners are March 22 from 5-7 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Frazee. Adults are $8, kids (7-14) are $5, and 6 and under are free. Everyone is welcome.

Toastmasters
The newly restructured 412 Lakes Area Toastmasters meets on the first and third Friday of each month from noon–1 p.m. in M State, room C-102 in Detroit Lakes.
