Lakes Area Community Concert Band
Lakes Area Community Concert Band’s 7th annual spring concert is at 4 p.m. in the Historic Holmes Theatre. It is a free-will offering.
Fried fish dinner
Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Callaway, hosts a fried fish dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is a free-will offering. The Mary/Martha ladies will also be holding a bake sale.
Square dance for heart
The Northern Minnesota Square Dancers host a benefit dance for the American Heart Association from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Waubun Community Center. Everyone is welcome to come and bid on items.
Soup and sandwich
Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church, Detroit Lakes, hosts a soup and sandwich supper, followed by an old fashioned gospel hymn Singspiration, beginning at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
Color Guard breakfast
Lake Region Veterans Color Guard fundraiser breakfast is from 8 a.m. to noon in the DL Legion Club. Suggested donation is $6.50.

Detroit Lakes public schools kindergarten roundup and registration is at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. in Rossman and Roosevelt elementary schools. Each session is one hour.

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.
The DL Library hosts Fashion Trends & Issues: 1850s-1920s April 23-25 with Vickie Wendel, who follows women’s fashions from the sewing machine to ready-made clothing that came from the mail order catalog, at 7 p.m.
Rescheduled from Polar Fest, the Chocolate Chill with chocolate samples and demonstrations is from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Washington Square Mall. Treat boxes for samples are $5. There will also be music and door prizes.
World Book Night
Sandra Cisneros’ book ‘House on Mango Street’ will be given away as part of World Book Night at 5:30 p.m. in La Barista. Everyone is welcome.

Hidden History Happy Hour
The Becker County Historical Society hosts Hidden History Happy Hour in at the Hostel Hornet in Frazee. Come hear about the underside of Frazee’s lumber mills, murder and brothels. It is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets, which include appetizers, are $10 in advance at the museum or $12 at the door.
StandDown is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Becker County Fairgrounds. All veterans are welcome. There will be free services available including legal assistance, tax information, AA/NA meetings, housing, clothing and more. For more information, call 846-7312.
St. Henry’s Church, Perham, hosts its annual pork roast from 4:30-7 p.m. in the church basement. Adults are $7, ages 6-12 are $3 and ages 5 and under are free. Take out is available.

Friendly Squares dance
The Friendly Squares host a square dance in the Century School, Park Rapids. There will be a workshop from 7:30 to 8 p.m., followed by dancing from 8 to 10. Caller is Roger Lueth, and Donna Stone will cue round dancing between tips. Potluck will be furnished by members. All square dancers and spectators are welcome.
Talk of the Town
Eric Bergeson, owner of Bergeson Nursery in Fertile, and a weekly columnist for several newspapers, speaks at the first of the “Talk of the Town” series. It is at 9 a.m. in the Cormorant Community Center. Come with all your gardening questions and enjoy this free event. Coffee and cookies will be served.
