Sunday, May 26

Pancake breakfast

The Elbow/Tulaby Lakes Volunteer Fire Department hosts a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon in the fire hall, located 18 miles east of Waubun. Cost is $5 per adult and children 6 and under are $1.

Monday, May 27

Finnish pancake breakfast

The Wolf Lake Chapter of the Minnesota Finnish American Historical Society hosts its 27th annual pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wolf Lake Lions Hall. A free will donation will help fund scholarships to Salolampi, the Finnish language camp at Concordia Language Villages. Everyone is welcome.

ITOW events

Memorial Day events at the ITOW museum include Dad’s 6th Annual Waffle & Sausages Breakfast at Prairie Wind Middle School, Perham, from 7 a.m. to noon. Cost is $7.50 at the door. Proceeds for Masons scholarships and ITOW. From 1-3 p.m., speakers at ITOW include Dr. William (Bill) Rose, Vietnam, and Paul Ceynowa, WWII Marine saw the Iwo Jima battle first hand. Memorial Day parade, ceremony

The America Legion John Bridges Post 15 in Detroit Lakes hosts the Memorial Day parade and celebration. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park and continues to the City Park. The ceremony will be at the Bandshell of the Pavilion, depending on weather, at 11 a.m.

Potluck dinner

The Egelund Church, northwest of DL, hosts a potluck dinner at noon. It is a free will donation, which will be used for upkeep on the church and cemetery. Entertainment at 2 p.m. is by Clint Felpner and the worship team from Alliance Church.

Overeaters Anonymous, Serenity Group

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.

Lake Park Garden Club

The Lake Park Garden Club meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Jane Nelson home, 14401 Co.Hwy 5, No. 7. Business is continued planning for hosting the District 11 Horticulture Show on August 1. The program is a trillium walk.

Women’s Bridge

The Detroit Country Club Women’s Bridge Association meets at 11:30 a.m.  Please make reservations by noon on Monday by calling either Ginny Gathman at 847-1117 or Paula Sanders at 846-2507.

Meadows on Lind open house

Meadows on Lind, 11463 US Highway 59, DL, hosts open house from 5-8 p.m.  There will be wine, appetizers and s’mores by the fire.  People can check out the new expansion and updates to the pavilion.

Talk of the Town

Larry D. Bergsgaard, author and retired Special Agent with the U.S. Treasury Dept. & the MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, speaks during Talk of the Town at 9 a.m. in the Cormorant Community Center. Come for free coffee, cookies and conversation.

Tuesdays in the Park

Habitat for Humanity will serve hamburgers, hot dogs and brats along with sides, each Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the DL City Park before the Tuesdays in the Park band concerts in the Bandshell. It is a freewill offering. Concerts then start at 7. Bring a lawn chair. Lake Park Class of 1953

The Lake Park High School Class of 1953 will hold their 60th class reunion on June 4 in the Holiday Inn, Detroit Lakes. There will be happy hour at 4:30, followed by supper off the menu. The Lakes Area Farmers Market is Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Peoples Park.
