Lake Park Garden Club
The Lake Park Garden Club meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Cormorant Park Place Clubhouse, 14401 Co. Hwy 5, Lake Park. This is the final planning meeting before the Aug. 1 hosting of the 2013 District 11 Horticultural Show, located at the new Lake Park-Audubon High School on Highway 10 in Lake Park. Friendly Squares dance
The Park Rapids Friendly Squares hosts a square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in the Park Rapids Eagles Club. The caller will be Tom Allen, and Donna Stone will cue round dances between tips. There will be mainstream dancing with occasional plus tips. There will be finger food available after the dance. All square dancers and spectators are welcome.
Old Time Variety Dance
An old time variety dance is from 7 to 19 p.m. in the White Pine Room, Frazee. Music is by Jerry’s Dance Band.

Tamarac History Tour
Tamarac Refuge hosts a history tour, celebrating 75 years, at 2 p.m. Join them for this car caravan tour and embark on a journey through the story of Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Discover the people and places that played a key role in refuge development from the 1930s and the Civilian Conservation Corps forward. Meet at the Chippewa Picnic Area.
Color Guard breakfast
Lake Region Veterans Color Guard fundraiser breakfast is from 8 a.m. to noon in the DL Legion Club. Suggested donation is $6.50.

Learn to fish for free
The DNR hosts MinnAqua’s Peers to Piers program from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday on the Little Detroit Lake pier across from El Loro restaurant. The DNR provides all fishing equipment and bait for kids wanting to learn to fish. Kids fish for free up to age 16 with no license required. DLHS Class of 1973
The Detroit Lakes High School Class of 1973 will hold its 40th reunion on Saturday July 27, in the American Legion Club. Bazaar, bake sale
St. Mary of the Lakes bazaar and bake sale is July 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. and July 21 from 7 a.m. to noon. There will be games, a bake sale, quilt raffle, card shop, silent auction and more.
The Bearclaw Muzzleloaders of Northern Minnesota annual Rendezvous is July 20-21 at the Height of Land Sportsmans Club, east of Detroit Lakes on Highway 34. Follow the signs. There will be a re-enactment of pre-1840 and competitions held throughout the day. The public is welcome. It is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 pm. And Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. Historic Shoreham Chapel, non-denominational, between Lake Melissa and Lake Sallie, holds services now-Sept. 1 at 10:45 a.m. It is open to the public. Coffee and refreshments follow the service. Dan Danielson, director of New Life Center in Fargo, and Rev. Tim Cook, Chaplain of St. Mary’s Hospital in DL, will be officiating at different times. Kathie Brekke and the apostles Blues Band will perform at the opening service.
