Tamarac Wildlife Refuge offers a Wildlife Excursion at 10 a.m. Explore the refuge with a knowledgeable guide. Search for wildlife and learn about the cultural and natural history of Tamarac on this two hour driving tour. Meet at the Chippewa Picnic Area on Cty. Hwy. 26 just 3 miles east of the visitor center.

The 6th annual lobster dinner is at 6 p.m. in the Cormorant Community Center. Price to be determined.
Saturday, Aug. 24
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Audubon, annual pork roast and silent auction is 4-7 p.m. It is a freewill offering.
A benefit for Doug Johnson and family begins at noon at Randy’s Bar on Lake Eunice. There will be a silent auction, live auction (beginning at 5 p.m. featuring an outdoor gas fire pit, Rossi rifle, collector Schmitt Wildlife set, $1000 dental package, Bison football/hotel package…), bean bags, horseshoes, Plinko, food and fun.
Help Haiti fundraiser
A Help Haiti fundraiser community picnic is from 5-7 p.m. in the Peoples Park, Detroit Lakes. The picnic meal is $5. There will also be a raffle and a motorcycle ride leaving Peoples Park at 1 p.m. Registration starts at noon. Ride ends at the park about 5. Wander through Wildflowers
Tamarac Wildlife Refuge hosts Wander through Wildflowers from 10 a.m. to noon. Join us as we search for the sun-loving blooms of late summer. Meet at the Pine Lake Parking Area on Cty Hwy 29 in the southern portion of the refuge for this 2 hour exploration.
Worship and praise
The Chapel on the Hill, rural Detroit Lakes, sponsors an afternoon of worship and praise from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Cormorant Community Center. The Lakes Area Birding Club meets at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Public Library. State fair bus

All families new to Detroit Lakes School District may go to the school in your area to register your child for school. School for grades 1-12 starts Sept. 3. Kindergarten starts Sept. 5.
Dancing for Missions
Dancing for Missions fundraiser is Sept. 21 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Lakes Area Vineyard Church. Help raise support to send a missions team to Zacatecas, Mexico. There will be valet parking, a formal Italian dinner, childcare and a dance (waltz, swing, country, 2 step, line, etc.). There is a suggested donation of $25 per adult and $5 per child.
