Larry’s Plus dance

Larry’s Plus square dance is from 7–9 p.m. in the IOOF Hall, 118 W Holmes St., Detroit Lakes. Larry Johansen is the caller.

Tuesday, Sept. 19

Garden Club

Lake Region Garden Club meets at 6 p.m. on Sept. 19 in Room 115 at DL Middle School. Judy Fankhanel will conduct a Salsa Party. Members are asked to bring garden items, jars and lids to make salsa.

Show your support

Bike riders, snowmobiles on trailers, rollerbladers, dog walkers, runners and all from the Detroit Lakes and Frazee communities are invited to show your support of the Heartland Trail extension between the two communities at 12:35 p.m. at the west parking lot of The Lodge on Lake Detroit. The state legislators that look at bonding bill requests, the Capital Investment Committee, will arrive in Detroit Lakes at this site on their bus tour.

Friday, Sept. 20

Fall bazaar

A Fall Bazaar at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee, includes a turkey steak dinner with all the trimmings and homemade pie for dessert for $8. There will also be baked goods, crafts, produce and quilts. Doors open at 10 a.m., and dinner is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Takeout boxes available for the lunch.

Country Twirlers

Country Twirlers square dance is from 7:30–10 p.m. in the IOOF Hall, 118 W Holmes St., Detroit Lakes. Jim Jirak is the caller and cuer.

Pass, Punt and Kick

The DL Jaycees host a Pass, Punt and Kick events at the Detroit Lakes High School football field. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m., with the event beginning at 5. Girls and boys ages 6-15 are welcome. Please bring proof of age.

Saturday, Sept. 21

Church bazaar

The Grove Lake Church, Pelican Rapids, Bazaar is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be baked goods, crafts, quilt drawings and a silent auction.

Fall hike

Join the Laurentian Lakes Chapter for a fall hike on the North Country National Scenic Trail. The hike takes place at 1 p.m. in the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Meet at the Pine Lake trailhead which is about 7 miles north of MN State Hwy 34 on Becker Co. Hwy 29 for a four mile hike. For more info call 573-3243.

Old time variety dance

An old time variety dance is from 7-10 p.m. in the White Pine Room, Frazee. Music is by Stan’s Country Dutchmen.

Sunday, Sept. 22

Sauerkraut dinner

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Height of Land, hosts a sauerkraut dinner from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It also includes a craft, bake and produce sale also. Cost is $8 for adults, ages 6-12 are $4 and 5 and under are free.

Fall feast

The Wolf Lake Rescue Squad Fall Feast is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wolf Lake Lions Hall. It is a free will donation.

Natural nutrition

Tamarac Wildlife Refuge hosts Go Natural with Nutrition at 2 p.m. Join guest presenter Carol Robinson on this first day of autumn for a fun lesson on eating healthy. Whether it be from the wild, your garden or the farmer’s market, we can all make good choices and have fun doing it. Learn how you can have fresh greens all winter long, how you can dehydrate the fruits of the season and which wild foods are easy to gather and prepare. Meet at the Chippewa Picnic Area located on Cty Hwy 26 just east of the visitor center.

Odd Fellows meets at 1:30 p.m. at 118 W. Holmes St. Visitors are always welcome.

Miscellaneous

Lutheran Cluster 7

Lutheran Cluster 7 gathering is Oct. 5 in Bakke Lutheran Church. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $10 and includes lunch. The gathering will be done by noon. Rotary blood screening

The 24th annual Noon Rotary Club Blood Screening is Sept. 16-20 from 7-10 a.m. in Essentia Health St. Mary’s. No pre-registration is necessary. Cost is $35 per person.
