Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Callaway, hosts its annual fall supper from 4 to 7 p.m. It is a freewill offering.
Blessing of the Animals
A service of “Blessing of the Animals” is at 4 p.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, DL. All creatures great and small are invited to bring their humans to the service. The offering will be given to the Becker County Humane Society. Please bring pets on leashes or in a carrier. Refreshments will be served for all guests and their people following the service. Serving Those Who Served
Patriot Assistance Dogs presents Serving Those who Serve from 4 to 6 p.m. in the DL Veterans Memorial Park. The event includes recognition of each veteran, the honor and sacrifices made by these veterans, presentation of awards, music and a keynote speech from Bradley Livingston. There will be brats, hot dogs, chips and more.
Fall color safari
Tamarac Refuge hosts a Fall Color Nature Photo Safari from 3 to 4 p.m. Experience autumn on the refuge through the lens of a camera. With the fall colors nearing their peak, we will travel by car caravan to some very scenic and perhaps less known areas on the refuge. Discover how Tamarac’s wildlife and plants prepare for winter. Meet at the Chippewa Picnic Area located 3 miles past the visitor center on County Hwy 26.
Monday, Sept. 30
The Lakes Area Birding Club meets at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Wetland Management District office on Tower Road (note change of location...this meeting is NOT at the library). Stacy Salvevold, Wetlands assistant manager, will be presenting the program on birds, mammals and native plants found on the Hamden Slough National Wildlife Refuge. The public is welcome.
Izaak Walton meeting
The Prairie Woods Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America hosts Susan Burks to talk about the issue of terrestrial invasive species. The threat that invasive species (plants, animals, and microorganisms) pose to our woodands and prairies and the wildlife that live there is serious. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the DL Library. The public is welcome.

High Mileage Fellowship
High Mileage Fellowship meets the first Tuesday of each month in Community Alliance Church, DL. There is a pot-blessing meal at noon, followed by a time of sharing birthdays and anniversaries, a Bible Nugget and special music. This is an inter-denominational fellowship for all those 55 and over.

Join the Laurentian Lakes Chapter for a fall hike on the North Country National Scenic Trail. This hike is through a mixed forest that follows the Laurentian divide. Meet at the Elbow Lake Rd. trailhead at 1 p.m. for a 4-mile hike to the Hwy 113 trailhead. We’ll provide a shuttle ride back to your vehicle. This trailhead is about two miles west of Becker Co. Let’s Go Fishing walk
The Detroit Lakes Area Chapter of Let’s Go Fishing hosts this year’s “Walk for Let’s Go Fishing” at the Detroit Lakes City Beach. Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by the walk at 10 and the awards and chili feed at 11.
