Legos at the Library
Rescheduled from last week, Legos at the Library is from 3:45 to 5 p.m. in the DL Library. It is geared toward elementary school aged kids. Come build a Lego creation (Legos will be provided) that relates to a favorite book. There will be free snacks and prizes.
The Detroit Lakes ULTRA Snowmobile Club meets at 7 p.m. in The Sandbar in Detroit Lakes. The club encourages all area snowmobilers to attend and get involved to help support our local trail system. Chili will be served.
Friday, Jan. 24
Park Rapids Friendly Squares host a square dance at Century School. Royce Nelson will be calling. Plus is from 7:30-8 p.m., Mainstream is from 8-10. Club members will provide potluck lunch after the dance. All square dancers and spectators are welcome.
Emmanuel Foundation Charity Benefit 2014 “Cheers” begins with social hour at 5:30 p.m. in Holiday Inn. Dinner and dance follow at 7. Call 847-4486 for tickets.

The Rising Sun Dancers host a square dance from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Waubun Community Center. Jim Lizakowski will call the tips. Lunch will be furnished by the club. All dancers and spectators are welcome.

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.
DL Library Club
Detroit Lakes Library Club meets at 2 p.m. in the main meeting room at the Detroit Lakes Public Library. Larry Remmen will be speaking about economic development in the Detroit Lakes area. Music will be provided by Holly Heisserer and Sharon Wesbrook.

Auditions for Grease
Grease is the word for the Detroit Lakes Public Schools this March. The iconic musical will be presented March 20-22 at 7:30 p.m. in the George Simson Auditorium. Auditions are Jan. 21-23 in the Detroit Lakes High School Music Room and are open to students in grades 9-12. Grease is an energetic musical with infectiously catchy songs and an ode to love that never grows old. Save the dates and join the fun at “Rydell High” in March.
Drum and Dance practice
DL School’s Native American Programs sponsors sign up and practice for the Drum and Dance season. It will take place each Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m. throughout the rest of January and times will be announced for February practice. It will be in the Roosevelt Elementary cafeteria. Additional information will be handed out. All K-12 Detroit Lakes students are welcomed, and beginners are encouraged. Tangquist benefit account
Detroit Lakes resident Blake Tangquist lost his home and all of his belongings last week in a chimney fire. A benefit account has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank under ‘Blake Tangquist Benefit’ for anyone who would like to help him out.
Lakes Area Chorale
Come sing with the Lakes Area Chorale on Sundays at 3 p.m., Jan. 5-March 9. All area singers are welcome to sing in the Lakes Area Chorale community choir rehearsing at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes. DL area adaptive hockey
The Detroit Lakes Area Adaptive Hockey is a new team that spends time on the ice working towards being a part of Minnesota Special Hockey, and is open to any age and ability.
