Pancake breakfast

The Callaway Lions host a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Callaway Community Center. It is a free-will offering.

Family ski trek

Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge hosts a Family Ski Trek at 1 p.m. Meet at the Pine Lake Parking Area located on County Hwy 29 for this two mile adventure. Participants will leisurely glide along with stops to admire the fascinating world of winter wildlife. For more information, contact the the refuge staff at 218-847-2641. Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous Detroit Lakes Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at noon in the second floor library of the First Lutheran Church.

Spaghetti dinner

Rotary’s Polar-ific spaghetti dinner is from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in M State. Tickets are $7 for adults, kids ages 4-12 are $4 and ages 3 and under are free. Takeout is available.

Sons of Norway

Vikingland Lodge No. 495, Detroit Lakes, meets at 7 p.m. in Union Central on Lake Avenue. The program is Amy Degerstrom from the Becker County Historical Society talking about immigration. Public is invited to attend.

Wednesday, Feb. 12

DL Christian Women’s Club

The Detroit Lakes Christian Women’s Club hosts “Living Happily Ever After” from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Holiday Inn. Lunch cost is $9.25. Make reservations by Feb. 10 to Norma at 846-1977 or Ruth at 847-5507.

Skoe town hall meetings

State Sen. Rod Skoe (DFL-Clearbrook) hosts three town hall meetings. He will be discussing issues and answering questions related to the upcoming 2014 legislative session. Times and locations include Menahga High School Cafeteria/Gymnasium: 9:15–10:15 a.m.; Frazee Fire Hall: 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.; Lake Park City Hall: 1–2:30 p.m.

The Becker County Republicans meet at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes City Offices.

Friday, Feb.14

Friendly Squares

Park Rapids Friendly Squares hosts a square dance in Century School. Roger McNeil will be calling. Plus dance is 7:30 to 8 p.m. Mainstream is 8 to 10 p.m. Bernadette McNeil will cue between tips. Club will provide potluck lunch after the dance. All square dancers and spectators are welcome.

Valentine’s Day Dance

The Eagles Club hosts a Valentine’s Day Dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m. in the Eagles Club. Music is by Hatfield Bay. Purchase a $5 cupcake for a chance to win $50 in cash. Need to be present to win. All proceeds will go to the Becker County Food Shelf.

Singing Valentine’s

DL Vintage Rally

The annual ULTRA Snowmobile Club’s Vintage Rally and Swap Meet begins with registration from 8 to 11 a.m., with the ride from noon to 5 p.m. It starts at the Detroit Lakes city beach in front of Zorbaz.

Eagles blood drive

Rising Sun Dancers

The Rising Sun Dancers host a square dance from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Waubun Community Center. Roger McNeil will call the tips and Bernadette will cue rounds. Lunch furnished by the club. All spectators and dancers are always welcome.

Family movie, craft day

Healthy habit in the kitchen

Lake Park-Audubon Community Ed hosts a healthy habits in the kitchen class for families. Krystal Maroney, a clinical dietitian from Essentia Health, St. Mary’s, will be teaching about eating healthy and the importance of starting this habit early. This class can be for you, your family or your day care children. She will cover subjects such as how to encourage healthy eating in children; healthy meal planning, and participants also be making a meal in class, so come hungry and ready to learn. It is Feb. 18 from 7-9 p.m. in the LPA High School Consumer Science Room. Class fee is $10. Contact LPA Community Ed to register at 218-238-5914 ext. 2091.

DL area adaptive hockey

The Detroit Lakes Area Adaptive Hockey is a new team that spends time on the ice working towards being a part of Minnesota Special Hockey, and is open to any age and ability.
